Any reviews of this rugging 'system'?

Do the liners fit well, and are they easily attached/changed?
Are the rugs waterproof?

Any experiences, good or bad, would be good, as I'm thinking of buying a set.
Thanks!

I have one of the liners to go under a stable rug and found the clips fiddly to attach it to the back d rings. I also don't like the front fastenings - sort of bar shaped rings that the velcro straps slot through - the straps (on my liner) slide which means the corners of the ring poke into horseys chest. Not sure it's worth parting with £185 quid for one..... but others may love them

Bought mine in March and it's been fab, really versatile and good value which is ideal with this dodgey weather. I bought mine in the sale so it was only £120 so was super bargain! Only problem i've had is that the stitching joining the velcro has become loose as the velcro is so strong. Has been very waterproof so far, is nice and deep so gives a lot of protection and warmth. The liners are fairly easy to change and also attatch to other rugs quite easily. I would say generally a good value rug.

I have the normal Buster and have to say its fab! Once i got over the fact it didnt have back leg straps which i didnt realise when i ordered it. But it stayed put with no problem and i really do like it, Kelly was as snug in a rug!! its the 450gm one infact i wish id got one in a lighter weight for Katie too. I love the front as its velcro'd all the way down so not at all draughty, the neck is nice and roomy too.

i was looking at this exact same rug yesterday and wondered the same.
so is it like a waterproof rug that you can change the lining of to the weight you want??
would it not be the same as puting and under rug underneath a light weight rain sheet :S just abit confused lol. im looking for a decent rug for my tb for the winter when he is fully clipped out to keep him as warm as possible!

Would be interested in finding out too. I can't really justify one though as i have the Rambo Duo but i have alot of Premier Equine rugs and rate them very highly. None of mine have ever leaked, are nice deep fits and have worn very well.

I know some on here were not very impressed earlier this year with quality/ service but I have never had any probs and generally only use them and Horseware

Thanks - I have the 450g one with the detachable neck, and had exactly the same problem with the neck velcro stitching.

I've got one of their rugs, Buster, I think its called. A medium weight rug with a detachable neck and i think that its great. It is very deep but keeps her knees warm!!! I have a liner too and find it easy to use. Its a very light weight rug. The clips at the front took a little getting used to by my friend has the Weatherbeeta tristar and I find his clips even worse. Hope that helps a little

Friend has the Trio. She says its going to save her in cleaning bills as individually they go in her washing machine. She's pleased and they fit her horses very well, especially the shoulders. To my mind they look baggy when the horse is stood but you can see that is necessary to ensure plenty of give when they've got their heads down. I'd get the Trio if/when I need new.

I have them for both of mine. They are really waterproof and the linings are easy to switch.

I use the t/o on its own for autumnish weather, then choose linings as required so essentially I only have 1 rug to wash and reproof each season (instead of the normal 8). I havent had to use the neck attachments yet, but agree the velcro is very strong which is a bonus as my two like to help each other off with their rugs/neck rugs etc.

They are very deep but bear in mind the liner is smaller than the turnout rug, so as my horses are in between a 6'0 and a 6'3" and I ended up getting the 6'3" as the liners fit perfectly and the turnout rug is just a bit too long but nothing major and certainly fits much better with the liners on underneath.

Not sure what else there is to say ...

Oh, I bought the stable busters and the turnouts as well and havent had to use them at all (bought the MW and HW for both). If I find the liners getting a bit greasy, I will probably just buy a spare liner. So if anyone wants a 6'3" PE rug let me know ...!

Great concept - as with the Rambo Duo.

My friend has one (had one) on her HW throughout the winter. I don't think it's worn well tbh. Although of course that could be more to do with the size of the horse and the resulting wear and tear (although he's not a rug wrecker).

I wouldn't buy one.

I have one and have been very pleased with it. The liners attach well and are easy, doesn't take long to change them. i also like the neck which is elasticated around the top and so stays in place better than others which just fall back when the horse puts his head up! Haven't had any problems with the velcro, horse was in it from March till last month, so not very long yet.

It's a lot of rug for the money - you probably wouldn't need another turnout except perhaps a light rain sheet, as the outer still has a little weight to it.

I have one, just one problem. If the outer gets knackered (which it will sooner than the liners) you're stuffed as you cant just buy an extra outer.

Other than that I got bored changing the liners & pretty much stuck to one weight. I did bother to up the lining when we had all that snow & the liners are handy as a liner to the stable rug.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your reviews.
I appreciate the point about washing them - I hadn't thought of that, but it will certainly help.
I have decided to buy one, to be shared between two of my horses (not simultaneously

I just spoke to PE - and you can get the outers seperately - for a "cheap" £97!!!!

However, the nice lady on the phone did admit that the buster lightweight could be used - the only thing it wouldn't have is the 2 square d rings at the front of the rug to secure the liners too. I have used the liners with other makes of rugs last year, and they work just fine with just the trigger clips at the back to keep them in place.

Oh and on the clips at the back - I can recommend taking off the originals and getting hold of some half decent normal trigger clips - the clips they have on their rugs are a little fiddly when it is freezy cold!

When you say you could get the 'outers' for £97, what did that mean? The rug and the hoods? Or just the rug?

I understood that as just the rug, no neck cover but to be honest I didnt check, so it could be the neck cover as well. I was a bit shocked when she told me, 40 quid for 2 d rings at the front of the rug seems a little steep!
