Need to buy a lw rug for use all year round (a waterproof over coat essentially that comes off to dry when she comes in).

Must be deep through chest, silky lined, waterproof, hardy and have removable/interchangeable necks (ie I can put a 200g neck on).

Looked at Horseware which is what I've opted for for stable rugs but the reviews don't rate the necks well and I don't like the position of the neck attachments given my current rugging dilemma as they are too close to the wither. Can't find mark Todd in more than 600D so that's out, likewise any other 600D rugs as I just don't see it lasting well...

PE do a 1000D no fill and have good necks and are deep cut but at £100 a piece I want to know they will last, especially as she is out with a gobby welsh and a youngster...

Reviews?

I have got the 40g bustino turnout from PE. I use the liners ( currently in 200g). I also have the detatchable hood. I can honestly say they are fab rugs. They dont leak, keep them toasty and hasnt worn at all. I want to get the no fill version myself for the summer and torrential rain!

Keep an eye out for their discount codes on their website and facebook.

:)

I have a PE no fill, but it's without the neck cover. They're nice rugs, deep generous fittings and if I were looking for another lightweight then I would probably pick a PE one.

I now only buy PE rugs, yes alittle pricey but so worth the money as they are good quality, very deep and will last.

I'm a recent convert and I am slowly selling my old rugs to change the whole wardrobe to PE ones!

I have the 70g PE with detachable neck, it is a roomy rug and I am pleased with it. Because it covers so much of the horse i do think it is a much warmer rug, he has been wearing only that for most of the winter. My only complaints are the Velcro on the neck cover is very strong and is hard to pull apart, so I rarely take it off (might just be me being wimpy!) and there is a small rip that appeared in it early on, however the rip hasn't got any bigger and that has reminded me to get on and fix it.

Its not just me then! I struggle with pulling the velcro apart too! Its very strong.

I have their older style no fill with lower denier. Does the job well, no rips or leaking, good fit doesnt swivel etc, I would (and will come spring!) definitely buy another one and higher denier can only be stronger/better! :).

Would anyone know if the Horseware liners would fit the PE outer? I am looking to get another ready for next year and I already have the 200g Horseware (which did keep him toasty in the worst of the snow) and am thinking about getting the PE outer and maybe a 100g liner for milder days??? I understand you can layer the liners, too if weather gets really bad?

It looks like the PE range gets the 'thumbs up' from everyone!

Is everyone still as happy with the PE no fill rug. I think it is fairly new out - this winter?

Am meaning this rug - http://premierequine.co.uk/acatalog/Buster-70X-turnout-with-neck-cover--2749.html

I wondered if it is a truly waterproof lightweight rug?

Any thoughts? Has anyone had one in constant use for a horse living out, in torential rain?

And had it in use for most of winter?

Interested in the verdict?

Another PE fan but I do struggle with the strong Velcro on the necks! I've just bought a horsewear with detachable neck as well & am very pleased with it. I bought several horsewear liners & currently have one under my 450g PE rug & it fits perfectly under it.

I have the no fill and it's great. Generously sized though, my horse is normally 6ft6 as he has big shoulders but the PE is a little long and deep for him. They are great for big shouldered horses though :).

Not on that specific rug but in general I LOVE PE rugs. They are generously sized (my last horse was a 6ft9/7ft, but spot on 6ft9 in PE), deep so great for big horses which look like they're wearing mini skirts in other rugs makes. They last well, they're well made, they don't IME rip or damage easily. The necks attach well and stay put, the rugs don't move, they don't rub. I used to put other, thicker rugs underneath my PE when it was cold. The only reason I haven't bought PE for the new horse is that he's got little legs and they'd be down past his knees, so I've gone for Swish Equestrian which seem to be designed around/for a more cobby/pony type.

I haven't read all the posts but I'm a big PE fan. Check out all their no-fill/40/70 gram fill as they have different rug weaves - the 600D is cheaper but I think it's worth paying for 1000 or 1200D which don't tear nearly as easily.

Also I bought a no-fill which did not come with attachments for neck covers/ rug liners, a mistake because it's not nearly as versatile! I've just HAD to buy another! :p:p

They have really good offers on-line, I've just bought one 40% off.

I have the older style no fill PE rug and it's always leaked under heavy /steady rainfall :(
However my 70g one is a fab rug waterproof, fits well etc - my only complaint is the narrow neck - I have a Show Cob and the neck *just* does up and only just. I'd not get another rug under it.

Same as jnb I have a PE no-fill, a couple of years old - it's a red one with no neck, and it's worse than useless in heavy rain.

On the other hand I have a Buster Trio with liners. I don't like the liner system, but the rug on its own, which I think is a 70g fill, is great, and totally waterproof.

I have had no leaking issues with PE rugs. My only gripe is the sizing. My mare is swamped by their 5'6" rugs and they don't make anything smaller. I now use Swish Equestrian rugs. Nice fit, 1200 denier and cheaper:)
