I've had a quick look on the forum and can't seem to find anything, but apologies if this has been done before!

Rabbit is now rising 3 and currently he wears a 6'3 in all turnout rugs, and a 6'6 in stable rugs/fleeces.

I've been looking at Premier Equine for a while as I like that the hoods are detachable, which means that you essentially get 2 rugs for the price of one, they seem extremely durable (the one I have for Baggs has lasted 3 years and still looks brand new!), they can double as a stable rug if they come in soaked from the rain and generally have quite a range of colours (yes I am that type of person who will buy a rug cause of the colour aha!).

I measured Rabbit last night and he came up as 75" which is spot on for a 6'3 rug (turnout and stable) according to Premier Equine's website.

However, I am aware that he's probably got one more small growth spurt and then a hell of a lot of filling out to do in the next few years - would there be any harm in sizing up to a 6'6 in the rugs?

Unfortunately I don't have any friends at the yard who use Premier Equine rugs, otherwise I'd have asked to try the fit of theirs on Rabbit to see where we are aha!

They fit big

They also weigh a ton and I’d always buy something else myself these days 😅

I have had a look at the Rhino/Rambo type rugs as I do love the look of them, but I can never find any in the right size - they're always a size too small or two sizes too big :(

I'm tempted to browse eBay for a 6'6 Premier Equine second hand and see if it fits/if it will run big......

I would buy his actual size, as they do fit big as Ester says. I only ever bought one for my Exmoor and it looked like he was playing dress up. Aside from being a little too long, it went ridiculously low. That turned out to be beneficial for keeping his belly dry.

FWIW my rambos have fitted a bit bigger than their rhino equivalents.

I’d guesstimate that my rhino on share horse is at least half the weight of the PE equivalent on other horse and that’s before it gets wet 😅. Thank god they’re only 15.2 as my strength is a bit shit atm 😅

PE rugs come up big. I've got a 16.2 in a 6'3". Everything else he wears is 6'6". They also seem to be generous on the filling for the stated weight, I've got 2 with 200g and they're very warm. They are quite heavy and if too big they hang off the back of the horse as there's not much adjustment at the front. There's a sale on atm!

Ah thank you - I sized down for my retired lad Baggs, so was unsure if I should do the same with Rabbit or go up a size, especially as he has some more growing to do x

I do like Rhino and Rambo rugs but his size seems to sell out mega fast, which is a shame :( Mind you I suppose I could always keep trying......
