Sorry, another question from me tonight!

I've only had a few premier equine purchases but have loved and been impressed by every one of them - new horsey needs a winter wardrobe so I think i'm going to go the PE route and get something that will hopefully fit her giraffe-like features and last a while rather than buying a rug that isn't waterproof and needs replacing after a few months.

I'm torn between the detachable neck and the fixed - are the detachable necks quite stable, or do they blow up and about in the wind? And are they well attached once on or do the attachments get a bit loose/dodgy after a while? I've found this with a few rugs in the past and avoided them because of that reason but obviously if its a good quality detachable it would be great as it would get more wear! I'd probably be looking at a lightweight and mediumweight for now.

Thank you x

They are very stable. They fix to the rug with two large pieces of velcro (that get sandwiched between velcro on the rug). They are bigger and stay done up better than the one my Rambo Duo - I now use a PE neck on my Rambo Duo Rug.:)

P.S. They still have some neck covers on sale for £9.99 if you are not worried about being matchy (I brought a 100g and a 200g to go on my Duo).

Whatever make of rug I much prefer detachable necks, I don;t think they rub the mane as much. Like the look of PE rugs although I have a lightweight and it's not a very good fit on my ID mare. Appreciate every make is different and some suit some horses better than other

Tip;- You wouldn't have to buy two if you get the Rambo Duo, or the new equivalent. I love my Duo - even non horsey OH said it looks a decent rug - I didn't tell him how much I paid for it though :p!
BTW Not had a problem with the neck cover velcro fastenings, mine are still safe as houses, no leakage or blowing about.
I've got an extra liner so I'm geared for 100, 200, 300g or up to 400g worth of cold weather.
I sometimes use the liners under my other Amigo lightweight if necessary.

I've used a heavyweight PE turnout last few winters, was in sale & they only had detachable neck ones. I've a lighter weight PE with detachable neck but rarely use the neck on it, however I knew I wouldn't be wanting to use a heavyweight without neck cover so I was dubious as to how good it would be. However, it's great & I don't think it's any different from a fixed neck, never blows up & stays in place perfectly.

Oh brilliant! So good to hear so many positive reviews... looks like madam will be getting some nice new rugs for christmas (family/friends will have to make do with bargain boxes of chocolate) :) Thank you everyone
