Ok, i realise this must have been done before, but I can't find any posts for it using the search so....

Are their turnout rugs any good? I currently have a full neck amigo which is great although the velcro on the neck doesn't stay done up. I had it replaced before the 2009/2010 winter and yet still I would arrive at the stables to find it flapping about.

Are the premier equine ones good with respect to this, and all round? I'd love to buy a rambo, but my budget just won't stretch to that

Or one of these?

The rhino might be ok as not too pricey, and I'm not a fan of masters etc :)

I've got the PE t/o rug with the liners (their equivalent of the Rambo duo). It's on it's 3rd winter and still going strong. I use it in the field and stable so it gets a lot of wear. The velcro is really strong and has never come undone while my horse is wearing the rug. The neck also attaches very securely and doesn't lift along the join like some makes do. I've found the nylon lining keeps my boy's coat really shiny and he doesn't get any rubs at all. It's cut quite deeply so wraps around him and keeps him tummy warm.

10/10 from me!

Love them, love them, love them.

The Velcro is really strong and the rugs and hoods never move, i am a big fan of combo rugs but bought the detachable neck heavy weight and it is amazing also doesn’t rub the main like most combos do.

I honestly wouldn’t buy any other make of rug now.

Also have some in the sale.....

I know I saw those - but think I want a slightly thicker one, as his current rug is not that thick (and by all accounts may as well not have a bleeding neck cover!)

Good to know they don't rub - I like to keep as much of his mane as possible!

Looks like a PE for me then - Thanks :)

I found the PE rugs true to size. I do find they rub manes tho. I use all their range and love them, a friend however found them to leak badly after she'd had them cleaned

I'm not a fan either. I have a 6'3 for my girl - just a lightweight, but its a really weird fit. It seems to fit way to high on her neck, is absolutely massive, despite all her other rugs being 6'3" or 6'6" - I'm not saying I would never buy another, but it wouldn't be top of my list.

Another thumbs up from me. Velcro very strong and havent had any issues with it leaking. Found it fitted perfectly on WB (Hol x TB).

I would go back to PE before any other as I think they are great value for the money.

I'm a fan, ordered a 7'3" lightweight turnout from the sale section on Monday, delivered by lunchtime Tuesday. And finally found a rug that fits the shire x without looking like a miniskirt! It was a lovely red colour on Wednesday when I put it on - it is now brown :( why do I have such a hippo xx

i never wash my t/o. they are never the same again, wether they are re-proofed or not. i pressure wash the inside if its greasy but thats it. only the stable rugs gets washed and i do them myself with the pressure washer. stuff paying over £10 per rug!

Very good and worth every penny IMHO - I have a couple bought 5-7 years ago that are still in excellent condition and even the most destructive of horses haven't managed to put a scratch on them!

Nice rugs but the Duo equivalent one that the mare has that I look after wears is a bit disappointing. The velcro at the front isnt so "sticky" and keeps coming undone and it isnt old either. Its been washed and re-proofed and been absolutely fine, not leaked even in the torrential rain we had yesterday. Have to say I do prefer my horses Duo.

Sizeing is generous but have found my PE stormbreaker rug to be really hardwearing, waterproof and a good fit, the velcro & fastenings are chunky unlike some other cheaper brands. I got it nearly 2 yr ago (I think!) and it is still as good as new:)

I've found the quality to be very good, and the velcro is so grippy I have problems with it. Size wise I find they come up about right but possibly a tad short, but the necks seem to be too tight on all mine - even my TBs. I've had to return a couple that I can't get round a 13.2hh pony who fits anything else

I had several over the years and was mostly happy with them. However I did find they were VERY heavy when wet compared to Rambo anyway

Great rugs but the velcro will no longer stick on one of the two turnouts I have and it is only on its second winter. The necks are a very generous length which stops them riding back down the next when grazing and they don't rub. Highly recommended.

Echo this entirely, was the case this week. Would never leave on overnight to dry as some people do, far too much weight to carry.

They are fab rugs! We have one going into its 3rd winter and still going strong. Its a lovely fix, true to size and just a genreal hard wearing rug. My Dad is in love with them and has now bought 2 for the other 2 horses!

hmmmm.... i liked them, and my horse is out in the buster 300 at the mo. However, I HAVE found the velcro on the neck undone, and I find the gap between the top of the rug at his chest and the neck cover is quite big , leaving a bare section that gets wet if it rains.Same at his bum... I couldnt go up a size at it would be too deep, but the tail flap is so tiddly his back end is quite exposed. I also find they are almost too deep in that if they roll they can easily stand on them and rip them.

I need a super 400g+ and am swithering about a different make now tbh.

Love them. Have the Buster Trio for my 2 and have had no problems whatsoever. They have been washed numerous times and don't leak. Velcro is very very strong:D.
I find I do have to buy a size bigger though. My WB normally has a 6'3" but needed a 6' 6" in these and the Fjord is a nightmare to buy for but the 6' 3" fits him perfectly. These are the only rugs that I have found don't rub.
