Hi,
I've just gone trough and read a whole load of forums slating Premier equine rugs, saying that they leak etc.
I'm massively shocked by this as all three of my horses have full wardrobes of PE rugs and i think they are definitely the best rugs on the market in my opinion. I've never had one leak and each horse has their own Stay-dry fly rugs, liners, fleeces, 0g, 40g, 70g, 100g, 200g, 300g and 450g etc and each turnout has held off massive amounts of rain and everytime i bring them in they have always been dry and toastie!! The rugs i have also include the new versions and i honestly cant tell a difference in them. In fact we had torrential rain storms last weekend and all horses were wearing their 0g and not a single bit of rain had leaked through the rug, yet others were bringing in their horses in shires, masta and they were drenched through!
Have i just got lucky with my PE rugs or are there other people who also rate PE rugs too??

p.s - Although i love PE fly rugs, Bucus fly rugs have to top them :)

I only buy PE and I love them. My only wee moan is that they're SOOOOO heavy when wet. I'm only 5'2 and horse is 16'2, rug changes are a workout!

Best rugs I have ever had , and still as new after several winters.
I never understand the bad reviews either. Are people getting fakes ?!!

That's what I don't understand either! I've never had a problem with them! I always buy direct from their website

Ive got them too, only one weatherbeeta in my yard.
Some PE's are v elderly, newest is a year old - all A1 condition & none have leaked - EXCEPT one which the ruddy cleaning company stuffed up with & didn't re-proof properly. They ended up paying half the cost of a replacement.

I like their fly rugs very much. :)

Sadly I did have a lightweight turnout that leaked from new a few years ago (it was a genuine PE rug, just incase anyone was wondering) so I have never bought another waterproof rug from them. I'm glad that others have had good experiences with their rugs though.

I have never had issue with a leaky rug, however i had an issue with a straps on my last heavyweight I bought and their customer service was truly awful. Totally put me off them and I will never recommend again.

I can't stand them. However, I have never found them to leak and they last forever. The reason I don't like them is that they are so darn heavy (and NOT just when wet - ALL of the time). As a person who looks after other people's horses as well as my own, I hate dealing with premier equine rugs. They are far too hot for most horses too. The 100g turnout saw a clipped horse right through the worst of the winter, but then there was nothing to take off so that he was not so hot. There was a 100g and a 200g liner but I have no idea what kind of horse would need those in addition to the super heavy "100g" outer. Now owner has to buy a lighter rug for warmer days when this rug should have seen her through virtually every weather scenario and justify its huge price tag.

They are heavy when wet because they soak up water. They might not leak onto the horse but they don't repel water like say Horsewear rugs do. I have one and wouldn't have another as my boy is getting old now and doesn't need to carry that around when it rains.

I did have one that leaked and I bought direct, it was only 600d though so I now just avoid those (If they even still sell them)
I've got 200g busters and liners and have never had problems. I think the neck cover design is brilliant.
Also like the flysheets, although was a bit annoyed to find (too late!) that I didn't need to go down a size as I do with turnouts.
