Hi All
Sorry for another rug question, but please can I have feed back on the Premier Equine heavyweight rugs - love their boots but never had a rug. I'm specifically looking athe 450g HEAVYweight for my pansy of an Arab

Any other recommendations also welcome. Thanks

i really rate them, i have the 450gm with detachable neck and its fab-really deep(wouldnt suit a short legged/ very narrow type as would be down to their knees!!!), really tough and really thick and warm. velcro neck fixings are tough and good as new after a year and its stood up to having horses hanging off it/biting it etc. sizes spot on i reckon.

if you get one at sale price, you've got a fantastic bargin IMHO.

i also have boots and the magnet liners for stable wraps and am just as impressed.

Just had one for a pansy warmblood and really rate it though I think the sizing comes up big. Horse in question wears a 6'9 in weatherbeeta or mark todd and tbh a 6'6" PE rug would probably have been better for him.

I thought you might say that - they look big. Hes an Anglo and pretty wide, but in the scheme of big horses, he's pretty titchy

Anybody have any other ideas - reasonable price. He's outgrown his 5'9's, my other boy has a 6ft Weatherbeeta but that swamps him a bit.

I'd go for premier equine, loads on our yard have them from 13.2hh ponies to horses of all shapes and sizes and they're all great fitting- and theres a sale on now too!

I really shouldn't look at these posts, had a quick look on the Premier website after seeing all the recommendations and just bought the Buster 300X when I can't really afford it! Must remember to hide my credit card statement from OH!

Daisy is a 15.1hh cob and she loves her premier equine rug. They are cut quite generously but there is no reason why the 5ft9 or even 5ft6 would not be ideal for your boy.

I use a heavy weight Premier Equine turnout on my Arab and she is fine in it. She is out 24/7 so its on all the time but no problems with rubs etc. In fact I have just ordered another one as a replacement cos old one is getting worn out!

Hiya I have just got the h/w turnout for my arab, he had it on today with a full neck stable rug underneath and came in sweating so had to dry him off before putting him to bed so obviously they are very warm the only thing to consider is how long is your arabs neck as the neck cover seems slightly long on my boy so it covers his ears looks quite strange as you cant tell what he is thinking? so lovely warm rugs but go over their ears LOL

ETA that my boy is quite narrow chested and it fits him fine and doesnt come down around his knees in fact fits him perfectly I say go for it and have a toasty boy.

I really like their rugs and they are of excellent quality, really warm and hardwearing. However I find mine comes up slightly short on my boy, despite reading that everyone else finds them generous! My boy (large narrow tb) is very deep from wither to belly and the rug keeps him well covered in that respect, but he normally takes a 6'6 in any other rug, yet in premier equine he needs at least a 6'9. Could this be due to the lack of flexibility for adjustment at the front due to the single clips?

wish I'd read this before I ordered mine as I've ordered a 6'6 & it sounds like it's going to be too big as she can be 6'3-6'6
