My mind has gone blank!

Could you give me ideas of what I am going to need for the arrival of our doggie?
He will be 14 weeks when we get him.

So far I have got an indoor kennel, lead and vet bed. I will order his food friday, and I have my sister scouring the charity shops for cot duvets etc...

Ideas please

Dogchew, stocking you don't need any more, dogbone, clawscissors and stop-bleeding, dogchew, stuff to keep ears and teeth clean, dogbone, maybe a rubber toy like a Kong, dogchew, mild dogshampoo if he rolls in something, dogbone, maybe a super-absorbing towel, dogchew, maybe Piss Off or something similar for any accidents, dogbone, maybe vinegar to put on electric cords, dogchew and a brush and/or comb suitable for his sort of coat.

Oh, did I mention I believe in provide a lot of allowed things to chew on?!

Gosh it is years since I have had a puppy, since all mine have been adult rescues recently. But I do remember buying our lurcher puppy - we weren't planning to buy him, so ended up stopping at the pet shop on the way home for Lactol etc

Some ideas:

Dog bed

Lead and collar (bearing in mind he will grow out of these, and cant go out until his vaccinations are complete!)

Dog food (breeder should give you some of what he has been getting, or at the least tell you what he has been fed on)

Wormer (cheaper to get it online than from your vet

- I would recommend Drontal puppy from www.vetuk.co.uk)

And as Finnish Laphund says, lots and lots of toys and chewy things

Plus dont forget to take lots of pics

I would also get one of those snuggle pads you can get from pets at home, so he has something nice and warm to snuggle upto on his first night in his nice new home!!!!!

Hello
grin.gif

Thanks for that! I am not sure what sort of collar to get. I know a tiny one to start with....

I have been pre prepared re the food. He is having Genesis at the moment, but I may start him on raw if we can get it sorted out.
He had his last jabs last week, with the breeder, so he will be able to come out straight away!

I have a feeling he will be the most photographed doggie in Essex

Whats a snuggle pad?

He will have been away from his mum for about 3 weeks when he comes to us, and his siblings will have been gone for about that time too. We should have picked him up 4 weeks earlier, but couldn't due to one thing and another.

You reckon Tesco value freezer bags would do the trick?

They would do of course, but I tend to buy Tescos Value Pedal Bin liners - simply because they are white and not clear plastic

I never thought of myself as the delicate type, but still....

Cant wait to see pictures of him, and great that he is vaccinated already so you can go out and have fun straight away

Well it can be windy, but rarely rains from dawn to dusk, depends as always on what you want? If you want big citys that still is so small you don't usually have to rent a car to get from one end to the other, then yes. If you want scenic nature without a clutter of other people, then yes. (If you like the later, there's a place not far from Ghotenburg where a man takes small groups out on his homebred Swedish Ardennais, in Svartedalen, nature reserve area.)

from Sweden.

As opposed to snuggle pads if you cannot get them, you could try a teddy bear his size to mimic his siblings and remove the eyes and nose

so he cannot chew them, helps them sleep much better....and most importantly...INSURANCE.....I recommend Petplan.

How about a dog collar pet ID tag. (Most pets at home stores) that way if he goes missing, it has your information on his dog collar thingy so they can ring you up and get in contact.

Microchip

Another major thing no one should forget.
Is TLC.
