My vet has just confirmed my 10 yr old maiden mare has got the above. She,s an Anglo Arab and is 308 days. Apparently it,s unusual in lighter mares or maidens. The prognosis is not good and he has warned me that we could lose both of them. We are going to try to keep her going till she,s 330 to give foal a chance, mare is eating and drinking and quite happy in herself at the moment. Obviously if she gets worse then we,ll have to make the decision. Anyone know of this, and what was the outcome?
 
Sorry to hear about your mare, no knowledge but put it in breeding as there may be someone that can offer advice, it will not disappear so quickly in there.
 
I am really sorry to hear about your mare! How heartbreaking for you both.

I second the suggestion to post this in the breeding section as you may find more knowledge there
