Anyone know how much they charge for a prescription and if it is still worth it? My mare is scoffing 2 a day at the moment (on vets advice, he has been to see her) and my box of 100 from 3 years ago(pre prescription charges) is nearly empty.
Thanks!

Our vets charge £7 for a perscription - so depending on what your vets charge for a box it may or may not be worth it. But dont forget postage and packaging from either the vet or off the internet and our vets let you have it cheaper if you pay on the day

they should do you one. i think it depends on the parctice how much they charge. But mine charges about 8quid then theres a website that sells box 100 for 39, whereas if i buy it straight from the vets its £75!! They also keep your prescription on file so you can use it more than once.

No. A prescriptiuon can only ever be used once. You will require a new prescription every time you require a repeat.

Try the internet. Easy peasy to get it without a prescription £35 for 100. VetOrder dot Com Can't recommend it of course, I believe it's not legal to import it.

Iget a prescription to cover 3 boxes at a time. Vet doesnt charge at mo but apparently there are new rules coming out (arent there always) that they will have to charge, and bute is rising in price.

My vet doesn't issue it any more if you haven't reordered for six months. Rang up to reorder Danilon after 2 years and was a bit shocked to find that a visit was involved. A bit shocked because I live in Normandy now and it's a bit far from West Sussex! My old boy (28) must have the occasional bute for his arthritis so I am stumped and also worried.

I've been contemplating this, I found an old vets bill the other day and I knew the Danilon had been going up but its nearly double now what it was then, 3 years ago, I now pay £60+ from my vet when it used to be bout £35, thats not just a couple of quid !

I've been a bit skint over xmas ect, so tried nobute for the first time, my horse seems fine on it and was going round the menage like a spring chicken the other eve, he's 32 now. My friend swears by it but I was always afraid to stop the Danilon, I'm going to give it a try for a while and maybe just use the Danilon if he's really sore, my vet said it would be better if he wasn't on it long term but obviously he will be if needed, he's been on it for the last 10+ years so wont' make any difference now, I'd rather he was comfortable in his remaining years however long it is than to be in any sort of pain.
