Presents for Instructors?

Yea see I still think a stable plaque is still too personal tbh.
If you don't want to get her a bottle then choccies, smellies etc are good (although I hate getting smellies as I'm allergic to pretty much everything! but most people like them!)
Or something practical like gloves, wolly hats, scarfs are good...but might seem odd in this weather! :p

Very good idea Sidesaddle!! It's taken us a while to get to that one!!!
The plaque sounds like a good 1 too - OH bought me 1 for Christmas and I love it, may be a bit personal again though?
FYI you are not a numpty xxx

Blah its WEIRD buying someone you're not friends with, you PAY and is, I'd imagine, twice your age something personal for her personal llife! And thats what a personalised gift is!!

Tbf i think that you shouldnt buy her ANYTHING, and the mature thing to do would be to say to her how much it meant. If you're going on holiday thats a bit different, bringing her back a clog from holland or whatever. Still odd though.

Adults dont like clingy kids, think of a mature present? like, a present adults would buy each other? i.e. alcohol, chocs. xxx

Hang on a mo!

I have just re-read your OP. Why are you giving her a present before you go on your hols?

Why not bring a little something back from your trip?

Gah! Thats a really good idea, we're going driving round Ireland, and I'm sure there's something horsey I can get her!

As an instructor chocolates go down VERY well! Especially ones that you wouldn't usually buy. I don't drink (not a recovering alcoholic either!!), but never say anything when I get given a bottle (just give it to my parents).

I'm not sure about the personalised stuff.... Maybe from a small child or a close friend/client....

One of my clients occasionally bakes me cakes!! That's BRILLIANT! :)

I LOVE baking, so that would be perfect! She does like to eat too :D

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :p

OP, I'm not sure it's something I'd feel entirely comfortable with. Sweet if it's a token present from a young kid maybe though.

Maybe personalised isn't the way to go then, choccies or cake! Maybe I could get a horse-shaped cookie cutter, and make a tin of those :)

Rachellouise1 - Aww thank you:o If only you'd seen me last summer...! I'm so grateful to my instructor, as shes helped me no end, and just pushing me when I need to be pushed. xx

I dont think it is creepy,it's a lovely idea.
Not quite the same thing but will be buying presents for R's teachers at the end of term-a teacher is helping you so much it's nice to say thankyoua nd let them know they are apriciated!

Something personalised may well be the wrong thing for her,but dont think TG would be thinking along those lines unless she thought her instructor would like it-just because we age in years does not always mean we out grow cutesy things ;)

This thread moves too quickly...

Cakes sound like a good idea, or something from your holiday?

I might do that. This thread is moving too quickly for me to respond!!

Am soooo pleased there are others out there who don't drink!!!!

I don't either:p

I think a saddle cover isnt too inappropriate, a decent practical type gift.

I'll have a look and see who makes them (and how much they are!)

Ooer, I guess its a bit 'young' to give her a personalised pressie, I didn't think it was clingy?!

Chocs/cake might be the way tho.

Thanks anima!

I'm making my 12 teachers their presents and cards as we speak! They have helped me get through the turmoil that are GCSEs, so I wanted to thank them.

I think she would like it, as shes really 'cutesy' with her horse, he's dressed head to toe in pink, and gets treats from all of us constantly, even though hes grumpy :D

(P.S. Anima, if you have a look in my facebook picture albums, in 'At the stables' right at the end is the picture I commissioned of Gwen!)

FYI, you're not a numpty and I don't think buying a personalised gift is especially creepy. Just a bit naff and babyish if I'm honest (as i said on previous page) I'm massively cutesy with my mare (going to have to stop saying that - she's out on Loan now!) And I do have a personalised numnah from years ago when I was much younger.

Like someone suggested cake and you suggested a horsey cutter. why not just a nice victoria sponge or a choccy cake.....DOESN'T need to be shaped like a horse to make it a brilliant, thoughtful gift.

I think you're lovely for waning to get her a gift, it sounds as though she's made such a difference to your riding so yea, get her something as it's always nice to be appreciated isn't it?

I'd say go with the making a cake or cookies OR something like a couple of us mentioned like a really lovely hand cream.

Great, you can experiment on me with the wine idea on your way past!:D Or bring her back a bottle of Guinness ;)

But you see, I don't quite know where in the Emerald Isle I'll be! My parents have planned it as a kind-of mystery holiday for me, with riding arranged at some point during the time :D

The only thing I DO know, is I'll be staying right near my best friends, and their HUGE family :D:D:D

Would you like anything from the mainland? ;)

Yes please, I would like a box of fudge from the Penrith Toffee shop - I can't afford to pay for the postage cos it's too heavy, but can't buy it anywhere over here :(

Probably better for my figure (and my poor horses) that I can't get it too handily!:D

Now if Penrith Toffee Shop was in Portmerion....... ;)

I shall send you these humorous smiley instead:

:) Thanks, have you seen the musical?

Oh I also ditto the glove idea, I'm forever losing mine!

Yep! 'Twas an amazing show, but the book is SO good, and far more detail!

Hehe, I have had a grand total of four pairs of gloves since I started riding when I was 8, and I got my first pair free with a magazine :D

It's an awesome picture TG,really captures her :) Always did adore her face markings-too unusual not to love them!

I know! It was Sol, on here, who did it, shes amazing! *waves*
Luckil, last summer, I begged one of Gwen's shoes off Ginger, the farrier, so I have that right by my bed :o I miss her so much!

Thank you, the last one bears an uncanny similarity to me (during and after the fudge :o) :D

The 3rd and fourth ones are pretty much me on a daily basis now I'm on my hols :D

I was quite boring and just got my instructor a gift voucher for her favorite shop but i think going down the personalised route is a nice one...how about her initials on some gloves?!!?
