Presents only horsey people ask for!

I've already had my Christmas present from husband - a horse trailer - although he has said he will still get me something to unwrap on the day! :) and a lovely hunting breastplate from my mum. I could also do with some hardcore for our field gateway and feed bins. I remember one Christmas about 20 years ago my mum bought me a lovely wooden handled dandy brush from Harrods. I thought it was far too precious to use at the time and lovingly stored it away. Going through some old boxes earlier this year I unearthed it and hey, life is for living (and brushing muddy horses), so it's now being used after all these years!

This morning we had a bit of a situation when I could not find my sweeping brush and shovel. Yes husband had taken it AGAIN and not brought it back. I suggested a new rule of "putting things back after you have used them". He didn't like that rule and said he would get his own and leave them where he liked! Maybe a Christmas present for him..... :)

For past presents I've had a single breast bar for my trailer and a wooden farm gate-I was very happy with both! I've also had vouchers for hunting and from my local tack shop. I can't think of anything horsey that I'd like for Christmas - maybe some more shavings??!

My christmas lists consits of a new water bucket (large stocking filler haha!) some show sheen, some nice shampoo and some cornecresine!! Ohhh and not to forget some garlic and brewers yeast haha!!! Living the dream!!

So long as it is useful around the horses it is all.fine by me! I am always being given bridles - got dozens of them! Rugs, gloves, boots, socks, brushes, you name it I will have got it at some point lol! I am very practical so people find it easy to buy stuff for me. And then you get the people who think they need to get you something for you ... and fail epically lol! So those presents (usually jewelry and the likes) get recycled the following year!

I got some comments when I asked for full chaps for my birthday last year. This year it was a long wax jacket.
I'e also had bridles, vouchers for local feed store, the plastic jumps you get (fab as I asked for money towards them so delighted to get the set of two).

I've asked this year for harness for new horse.
I was delighted last year with a set of ratchet spanners and socket set for the lorry and carriages.

I got a 120l barrow made from galvanized steel for my birthday recently. Its amazing. My old one had a wobbly, completely mashed tyre, front part of plastic pan completely broken and only attached to frame by a couple of loose screws!

I asked for a curved girth from mum.. which is already in use .. oops! Its great! Family dont like to get me horsey stuff, so i ask for food hampers. ... means i can spend my money on horsey stuff ;)

I want a new wheelbarrow. Mine died :(

Oh No -and it was pink too! :(

No presents this year. We are just about to move into our first property with land and stables and it's all my Christmases rolled into one. It's not big (3 acres), and it's all very tired, but I'm waving goodbye to livery - don't think I'll even notice Christmas this year! Unless fences and roofing felt count as presents to each other :-)

I always ask for good waterproof gloves. This year I would LOVE a dressage saddle or a good sturdy pair of boots that dont leak- but more than happy with anything horse related!

TBH I'm just happy to be home with family for Xmas and not at work carrying out a 24 hour shift as I was last year :)

Best pressies so far have been a JCB toolkit and a new wheelbarrow wheel, love practical pressies! Asked Santa ( aka Ma and Pa) for a Polite coat this Xmas, seriously can't think of anything I need for any possible non-horsey periods of time??? X

Some of these are fab!

Before kids (bk). When money lasted slightly longer in the bank lol. (Even with expensive vet bills). My OH bought me a very expensive masta stable rug. He's non horsey but he did his research on sizes (looked at my old rugs) went to the very very expensive local tack shop, showed pictures of my old rugs and horse told them the size and spent 4hrs going thru all the rugs (I found this out after).

On my 21st he also bought me a pair of expensive gibbons chaps (that are still on the go 14 years later). Oh and a birthday treat to the british open showjumping (that was after kids)

Now, with kids, we get each other a small stocking filler only as money is tight so no horsey treats (but when savings are up again he's promised an Olympia/HOYS trip) but my mum and step dad still buy me my horsey gifts. This year I'm getting (that I know about)

Ariat bromonts! (And a lorry but that's shared usage between me and mum!)

I am debating asking for a tuffies nest bed for the long legged lurcher in my life-my mum will (does) think I am mad-I come from a non horsey/doggie family and am a country girl born to a townie family, my mum has told me it is not normal to keep 2 saddles and a set of travel boots in my bedroom, handbags and shoes would be more in keeping.

and waterproof trousers are apparently an essential if you work outdoors, non one told me and I have been working out there for over 25yrs!!!

so I figure I can buy the essential for myself, is a tuffies dog bed essential? wanders off to ponder

You could tell her its an essential as the lurcher is sleeping on your bed and there is no room for you.

I too am a country girl born into a townie family. I think they call us 'changelings'.
