Posted in here as not much luck in S Y.

Looking for a new saddle and considering trying some prestige's (for eventing)

any experiences? Are they good quality? What sort of horse do they suit?

As with any saddle it comes down to personal preferance, some people aren't fans, others really like them.

Personally I am in the latter camp. They are very good quality, lovely soft leather and very comfy. Again, like all saddles they don't always suit all horses but as long as they are fitted correctly you should be fine. Not cheap but then again how many good quality saddles are. They do hold their 2nd hand value very well tho.

I have a Paris K single flap (currently gathering dust in the spare room) which I had on my very well built TB before he was retired. I then had it on my 16.2hh WB until last year when he grew out of it.

My sister has a double flap Paris D on her 17.1hh irish mare and we also had one for my other sisters 16hh m/w WB until he dramatically changed shape so we have had them on a variety of shapes and sizes!!

Sederholm Select are a pretty good place to start if you are looking for a new one.

i dont have one but am taking my horse to get one fitted on monday. Going for the Paris K single flap. They looked by far the nicest ones when i went and had a look and they had alot of different makes!

I had a paris D, it was a really nice saddle, very comfy BUT a 17" was too small, I have quite long thighs and an 18" although fine as a work saddle, we had them as work, was too big for me to have as my own saddle if that makes sense.
Other than that really nice saddle and i may have kept it if it had fitted still fitted Tink.

They are nice quality saddles that as someone else has said do hold their value. If they fit the horse they fit and are great but am led to believe that the panels are not the most adjustable hence the "if they fit" comment.

We bought the Prestige Eventing Saddle earlier this year for my daughter, she loves it, holds her leg in a super secure position, use it on two tbs and it fits beautifully. Would definitely buy another again.

Most prestige have a man made tree which can be altered on a special machine ( I think they heat it up and then can make it wider or narrower?) I bought a second hand Optimax last year and had it altered by Prestige dealer to fit my youngster, My son has Paris D and loves it. My instructor has two Prestige so basically i can not recommend them highly enough. Google Prestige Italia UK and you should find Fiona Dunning who does a very good job of fitting them.( Ashbourne International Saddlery)

i have 4 !!!!!!

2 prestige Merediths, a junior joy jumper (as my horse has a short back) and an optimax dressage saddle !!!

I love every one of them and am considering selling all my other saddles to get another optimax !!
