What are peoples thoughts on them? I cant believe how cheap you can pick them up 2nd hand.. i always thought they were in the league of devocoux, butet, amerigo etc, but i cant believe how much they decrease in value secondhand? Is there any reason for this? What are peoples experiences?

I think it depends on the model as to how much they devalue. I don't really see that many up for sale second hand but some of the more basic models start at about £1200 to £1500 new so not really the same price bracket as butet et al.

I have a prestige gp for my youngster and I like it a lot, will certainly do us until we're ready to specialise more in one discipline (providing it still fits :) )

The top of the range lux ones are more in the price bracket of the ones you mentioned but I've never seen one of those second hand so can't comment on the prices

Lovely saddles. Point me at the cheap ones. :)

The only thing I can think is I've seen quite a few people buy them for very young horses or in other situations where I would not necessarily recommend a very expensive 'forever' saddle yet, I presume because they are pretty and fashionable.

Lol tarr steps I bought a prestige for my 4 yr old because it fit him, is well made, adjustable and was comfortable for us both. The fact that it was pretty is just a bonus.

I got a 2nd hand one quite cheap, its a paris mono-flap and was one the cheapest 2nd hand mono-flaps about which fitted my horse.
It fits brillantly, is very comfy, and my jumping position is a lot better in it than other saddles!

And as long as you both are happy, it's a brilliant choice. :)

But twice last year I saw people buy brand new Prestige jumping saddles for very new horses they were having issues with, and then they didn't keep the horses!

I was watching one on ebay that was 2 years old in fab condition, gel flocked the lot it went for £450, was gutted but saddler said won't fit him and she was right as I borrowed one of a similar description to try and there was no way of making it fit totally wrong shape for him

I'm another who loves them but never sees cheap ones that are the better models in the range. I've been looking for an 18" in a wide for a while without success.

You do see the Appaloosa saddles that are a relative of Prestige advertised as Prestige and they are cheap but horrible leather and a world apart from a Paris D and the like.

Well Measles on here can testify I was on the look out for a second hand one since November and ended up buying new 3 weeks ago!!! And I know she has been looking for one too and prices are saucy enough!

My daughter loves her prestige and it has fitted a number of horses!! Never seen any cheap ones anywhere - would jump at the chance to buy another one cheaply!! They also position the rider correctly!!:)

The Appaloosa ones were the original ones (endorsed by Michel Robert) definitely not the cheap end! I have had two golden stars and they are fab fits, I love that they are good quality, fit well and suit my type of horse. Oh and the first one still looks like brand new after 8 years of daily use!

Agree with baggybreeches that Golden Stars are much better quality - it's the previous ones that went under Appaloosa which tended here to be less good quality and didn't in my experience fit as well. The Golden Stars (and son had a pony Silver Star) were great - fitted well and great quality leather that lasts.

I bought a secondhand Prestige Arezzo a while ago. It was £1200, which was more than the horse!!! It is soooo beautiful though - I keep 2 saddle covers on it just in case:)
