I had vouchers from my mum for Christmas and I'm outraged at the sale issue - thanks for posting about this - I hadn't read the back of them yet!

I'm on Facebook....... I'll get on there and question this right away!!

Can you let me know how you get on - I'm not on Facebook, but I think I can view their messages. It might also be worth you giving them a call and playing hell tomorrow as well.

Will do! This has made me rather mad!

Here's the link to the FB page - I think it maybe publicly available to those not on FB

Looks like there are a few unhappy people on there already (not voucher related)

As far as I know they are not in administration HOWEVER they have closed a couple of stores including my nearest Moreton in Marsh.

DH are next to useless. I attempted to order twice and twice it went tits up. Go to interequine. I can guarantee excellent customer service and quality items.

Over the years I've given DH the opportunity to get their act in order & have ordered items on 3 separate occasions.............. on each occasion they have let me down. They have either not got the items in stock & don't know when their next delivery will be, yet are advertising them for sale. OR they hang onto the order for ages, giving no update regarding the situation & eventually I have to demand a refund as their inefficiency is ridiculous.

I will never place an order with them again! :(

I have found that they are not much better in person either! I tried to buy a pair of caldene jods at the shop, near Wigan. The elastic straps under the feet were supposedly held on with buttons, three of them out of the four were loose or missing. The remedy the shop offered was to sew two miss-matching buttons on, and still sell them at the price of perfect goods, rather than second quality. I left the goods there and made the decision never to buy from them again, the attitude of the shop assistant was as if I should be grateful for them to allow me to buy from them! I e-mailed a complaint and never heard a word from them.

Not to be suspicious or anything, but make sure you do a screen shot of the derby house t&cs on the website not mentioning that the vouchers cant be used in the sale....just incase they should suddenly *appear* there tomorrow- since youve posted on the fb page theyve got time to think about their come back without the hassle of having you on the phone to them.

eta- my experience of dh has always been pretty positive, everything ive ordered has come in time and been what i ordered, i do however think the voucher issue is disgraceful and you should definitely take them to task over it.

That is disgusting. I've never heard of a shop not letting you use vouchers in the sale. I shall certainly be hitting next with mine tommorow.

Nope- I can't find it anywhere on the website and I've always used vouchers against sale items at every other store I've had vouchers for! I believe there is a case of misrepresentation under the Sale of Goods Act and if e-mail isn't received saying that the vouchers can be used, then he is going to return them and ask for a full refund and he will give me the cash instead.

It does say here that vouchers can't be used against sale items;

Frankly, I think it's disgraceful. What's the incentive to get a voucher where cash is so much better?

That only appears when you go in via the "Christmas" tab though - if you go in via the "Gift Vouchers" bit right at the bottom of the screen it doesn't appear until you actually click on buy one - and strangely it has only appeared in the t&cs there this morning....it wasn't there last night.
But the point is - my OH phoned and bought them - he didn't get them on-line and he wasn't told this on the phone. After speaking to them later on today, he is going to just return them by special delivery with a letter to the MD demanding a refund - if they fail to refund, then they are withholding £150 of his money - that could be construed as theft.
I think I'll stick with Robinsons in future!!

A lot of the staff there can't be remotely bothered to help out. I've found it very frustrating to get someone to help. I once had about £500 of stock balanced in my arms and dared to ask them for a trolley. "We don't have shopping trolleys, it doesn't look right in our store!" they replied. I ended up borrowing a wheelbarrow from the stableware part of the shop, leaving it at the checkout! I also couldn't be bothered to tell the woman at the till, the one who had been so snotty that the XC boots I was buying were labelled wrong and should have been £20 more. Not like me at all, but I was so angry and fed up by that point.

Re the gft vouchers, it could be worse. I was given £70 of vouchers for a local beauty shop for my birthday. I decided to savve them a few months for Xmas parties etc. a few months later. When I came to use them I discovered that they had been stamped with a use by date of 6 weeks after they were bought. They wouldn't honour them. Silly really, as I used to use the shop quite often, but never have since, so it cost them more than they made from their nasty trick in the long run. I'd never buy vouchers anymore unless they are from a major shop like John Lewis or M&S nowadays.

DH have finally replied on their FB page -
Derby House Hi everyone, I'm really sorry for not replying sooner, I can assure you that you can use your Derby House vouchers to purchase sale items. We have a large range of products available to order and will be very happy to accept your vouchers as payment.

WOW almost instant reply to my question as to why it is printed on the vouchers that they can't be redeemed against sale items -

Derby House Hi Sarah, this is a printing error, the vouchers were printed a few months ago. We have now replaced our paper vouchers with new online vouchers. All Derby House vouchers are redeemable on sale items. I'm very sorry for any confusion caused.
