I'm thinking of putting my boy up for part loan... and was wondering if this sounds ok? Any corrections or suggestions are very welcome! Anything else i need to include?

<u>16.3hh Gelding for part loan</u>
For part loan 2/3 days a week
10yrs old. Hacks alone and in company, jumps and XCs in a snaffle
Needs a competent and confident rider to get the best from him
There will be opportunity to do small competitions with him.
Stabled at Osbaldeston (A59 towards Blackburn)

I didn't want to put a jumping pic because i would prefer someone more serious about schooling (don't want him being jumped too much til he gets bored of it and i want to mainly do the jumping work with him) but do you think i should put a jumping photo of him in too?

ad sounds fine, however i think its a big ask to say you don't want them jumping because you want to do it. if thats the case you should be paying someone to school him. thats my opinion only
 
No what i mean is i don't want him being jumped every day... I probably worded that wrong. I've known people have loaners jump their horses almost daily and obviously i don't want that happening because he would get bored of it. They would be very welcome to jump him just don't want him being overjumped.
 
I would put what he is like in traffic next to the hacking part.
Also, specify what sort of snaffle - snaffle mouthed is very open and doesn't always mean gentle - after all a waterford is still a snaffle but can be very harsh in the wrong hands.
 
Sorry to say this and i dont mean any harm, but i really dont think you are cut out for having someone share your pony, it is such a difficult thing to live with.

Eg what is your "take" on overjumping ?
Can they jump once a week - but for half an hour, or could they jump him every day over one or two fences?
What can they compete in? jumping? dressage? cross country?

What days are you planning on letting them have him on? Are you looking for a contribution from them etc...

To be a loaner you will really have to be a rather special person. I could never loan as i am far to pickey about what people do with my animals, and i would always find something to worry about.

otherwise i think looks good- i'd leave the jumping piccie off- he looks like he's pulling like a train on that picture!

when people ring about him and you find someone that you like then you can discuss exactly what sort of work/competitions they expect to do etc and see if it fits in with what you are looking for

i think if you are both open and upfront about expectations then you should be fine.

how lucky you are to be stabled at Osbaldeston- all those lovely facilities!

Gingerwitch - they would be very welcome to jump him once a week for half an hour. I just see some teenagers jumping their horses daily and the horses getting very bored of it and starting to refuse. I wouldn't want this. I've shared horses out before so i know i can do it. I just want to make sure he's not jumped daily. They would get a chance to compete at jumping, dressage and showing if they wanted. And we have some fantastic jumping and dressage teachers come up to our yard regularly so would have the opportunity to have lessons with them if they wanted.

diggerbez - I know, i'm so happy i moved there!! It's about a half hour drive from my house so not perfect but at least we have competitions on our doorstep now.
I wasn't sure whether to put price on. Do you have any ideas what would be reasonable for 2/3 days a week?

Guisbrogal - I don't think that was us in horse magazine, although he does give lovely cuddles

i'll add that he's fab in all traffic to the ad. And that he's in a loose ring snaffle
 
i guess it depends on how much he's costing you really... my sharer pays £80 every 5 weeks for his shoes- horse is on DIY on a nice yard (£40 per week) with arena and good hacking. i have another horse though so she can ride pretty much everyday but she does do jobs and gives me a lift with my other horse (in terms of mucking out etc). i would say about £15-£20 a week?
