Previcox

The Trocoxil is no longer working. A friend has recommended Previcox: it's an NSAID, I'm guessing a bit like Rimadyl. Has anyone used it and were there poor side effects?

Big dog is limping horribly (arthritis on one knuckle) and is currently on lead walks only. He's only 9 and I'm oping to make him more comfortable.

No experience of Previcox I'm afraid. I can't remember if you have tried Cartrophen injections for him, if you haven't it would certainly be worth considering them imho.

Big dog hasn't had cartrophen. It's a mechanical lameness due to bone spurs so I'm not sure cartrophen would work.

It is used as a treatment for arthritis, so would be worthing discussing with your vet, it does seem to have less side effects than NSAIDS.

my old boy has been on previcox for a while with no side effects that im aware of. However hes had a couple of episodes of lameness even while on the previcox and has had to have a couple of courses of tramodol as well.
He is a big old boy though and im more worried about keeping him comfortable than any long term side effcets

My dads dog had the same problem the Trocoxil stopped working and he switched to Previcox and as its his spine Tramadol, and had no problems at all!!!
