Previously cut maize field

Hi.

We have just got new land (8 acres)
Had been used by farmer last summer for maize which has been cut last year and left alone, there is grass and dry maize stalks still left in the field.
Is this suitable for horses to go in now and graze ?

Just be careful, maize stalks can be really hard and sharp.
