I have not been having much luck finding a 3.5ton lorry for my 16.2 horse that I can afford and actually has the required head room. But have seen a couple of nice lorries around the 6ton mark which look bigger and safer BUT that now means taking my C1 licence so i can drive over 3.5tons (I think?).

Has anyone had any experience of taking this test and could you please give me advice on how easy to do and what the cost will be?

Many thanks

Sounds pretty much the same as the trailer test then....damn! Am not sure whether to sit tight and wait for the right 3.5ton to come up or spend some more money so i have the choice of up to a 7.5ton.... Decisions!

Thanks for the info :-)

not a prob it is expensive etc, lorry's are selling at silly prices at the moment

A week;s course and C and C1 tets will give you a much wider range of vehicles to choose from, for all your future boxes. And a wider price range , 3.5 seem overpriced , you get more for your money with a larger one.

If you are thinking about category C1, C, C+E tests then get a move on . New rules come in for LGV test from 2009 to make it much harder to to pass and keep a LGV license. It's called new driver CPC. Later this year for BUS drivers. For more info http;//www.transportoffice.gov.uk/cpc

Hi,
Sorry i expect this question has been asked many times. Do you think i am likely to find a horse box for 3.5 ton that will take 2 x 16.2 horses and not be over weight?
I really dont want to buy a larger lorry and have to pay for plaiting etc.
My concern also is i dont want to spend a fortune as i just need a run around. I guess i am worried about spending a lot of money on the wrong lorry plus who can be trusted??

Any advice / tips would be great. This is my first posting and cannot see how to start a new thread so apologies!

Thanks
