Hi all, im looking to find out what the general price of clipping is as several people on the yard have asked me to clip for them this year but i have no idea what to charge... I am not an expert on clipping and have told them this so i obviously wont be charging mega bucks but if i can get the general price i'll have a better idea what to charge them.
Thanks

There's a thread in comp riders (or there was on sat, might be a few pages back). I usually charge 30 for half a head & legs left on, or most clips. Bib clips depends what else I'm doing on the yard. Same goes for taking everything off, depends on the horse. Anything further than a few miles away I charge travel too.

I charge -

£30 chaser clip (stifle to ear to lip)
£35 trace
£40 blanket
£45 hunter
£50 full

£10 extra for legs off

£5 extra for face off, mane pull, tail pull, feathers trimmed.

Before I was pregnant I used to clip nonstop in winter, do all hunt horses etc and people never raise eyebrows at the price.

If it's a tiny pony I'll prob charge less.

If it's a horse/owner I don't like I charge more! :D ;)

Hope this helps.

However OP without meaning to blow my own trumpet I am v neat and fast.....if u need a bit more experience I would charge much less, the only way to learn is by doing and people won't mind a few wobbly lines if they haven't paid over the odds.

:)

id be happy to pay 30 :)

you wont forget me, id still be happy to pay that, even if you werent a pro. It would be worth it, after seeing my last attempt, even the pony knew it was bad !

none of you live near me do you, come and do mine if you have time ! :D

I usually pay £15 for a trace and £30 for a full inc face.

However my YM has a frozen shoulder and so is not doing clipping this year. I have asked someone else and she is charging me £40 for a full clip inc face.

Both these people are experienced horsewomen with at least 20 years clipping experience each.

I charge £40 for a full - half head and legs on. £45 if you want them off. £30 for half clips - chasers, blankets, etc. and £15-20 for bibs. I do, however, have a vast amount of experience clipping all manner of horses from your quiet dope on a rope to creatures that really should have been sedated.

Mines cheap because I'm in an area of mainly cheap basic diy & grass livery, don't think others are charging too much at all. It's just if I charged more I'd have less to clip, & after all the years I've spent clipping I'm super quick. In an afternoon at the local big diy yard I can earn more at £30 a time than if I drove further & charged more.
