Following on from the 'how much is my horse worth ?' type posts how would you price the Following??

16.2 h bay 15 yo gelding. Good in traffic, hacks alone and in company. Great shoe, dentist, loads, clip, etc. Has competed and won ODE, showing, dressage, sj, xc. Been to numerous clinics. Never sick or sorry. Not complete novice ride. Snaffle mouth at all times, great in open spaces, excellent brakes . Has hunted.

Now if I added to my advert that he was ex NH/pointer how would that change the pricing? Still the same lovely horse but full tb?!

I read some of your old posts before replying to this thread - so I was confident in saying exactly the same spec!

Mine is now home for life, passed the vet but with the proviso that with his age & past activity I’ll have to watch his work levels going forwards. That’s fine, cos I feel that way myself ?

A full Tb will put some people off so yes I think it will affect the price. I'd stick to my 4k in current market assuming he'd pass a vet but would say theres less scope in that price with the extra info.

Such a shame though isn't it. He would suit soo many people. He doesn't even look full tb, he's stocky, such a shame people are put off.

Sadly yes it will put people off. I have a standardbred now and people are put off them as a breed too
Such a shame as there are good and bad in all breeds. My lad can do and has done a lot more than most but is still worth a lot less . But I'm sure you love yours as I do mine!! X

I’ve seen feral shetlands go for that!
I hope the bloodlines were suitably impressive!

Last feral Shetland I saw change hands, the “seller” paid someone to take it away - and that was less than a year ago. Decent bloodlines, too.

I bought my TB expecting to shell out several thousand (at least) in vets, physio and supplements over the next few years, so he’s not exactly going to be cheap in the long run ...

And I bought mine for thousands also expecting to shell out thousands in physio etc. Maybe you should be finding horses for the people looking.
