We're about to set up a business and are considering selling my trailer to get some funds behind us but OH seems to have high expectations of what my trailer is worth ATM.

So... can anyone give us an idea of what a 2004 model of the 505 would be worth in East Devon?

It's in excellent condition all round and has the full-breast bar too. Rubber over metal floor. Blue. OH seems to think we get £2500 for it. I think less. Who's right?! LOL.

But seriously, I don't really want to sell it if I don't have to and can't see the point if it isn't going to make enough to make a big difference to setting up the business. (OH has a £5,500 motorbike he could sell instead (for example :D:D:D))

Thanks!

I sold mine back to dealer for £1800 .. same year as yours.

He said as a rule of thumb, take £100 off purchase price for every year.

ETS: Actually mine was 2002.
I bought it 2nd hand for £2700, he took £100 off that for every year since it's manufacture ie. £900

I bought this one 3 years ago from a local friend (saw it on eBay) for £2600. OH says we've only used it five times to take filly to the vet and farrier and back in all the time we've had it, so assumes it wont have depreciated much in value. It's like talking to a stone getting through to him. Grrrr

And it really hacks me off that I've had the trailer sitting here for 3 years doing pretty much nothing, but within a week of my finally backing my four year old and being able to get out and about this summer..... Him Indoors wants to sell it :(

Have a look on ebay for similar one. I think you might be able to get between £2200 and £2500. They really hold their value.

Weigh up whether you are going to miss the trailer and regret selling it. Are you sure you will not need it? Is OH willing to sell the bike? I presume you have car(s) to use and the bike is an 'extra'?

What if your horse needs emergency transporation to the vet?

If you phone Ifor Williams they will tell you how much its valued at.

Would this be a realistic figure? Surely they would just tell you what they would give you for it?

You will get a better and more realistic price by selling it privately. As I said before, check out websites that are selling 505's and see what they are going for.

I certainly WILL miss it. Particularly now as the filly is backed and going. OH would sell his motorbike but we have a kind of unspoken agreement; I can keep a horse/s and/if he can keep a motorbike. We're probably not rich enough to have either really (with 4 kids to keep as well) but we don't smoke, drink, go out, go on holiday or spend anything much on clothing and so just muddle through (like you do). Guess I would sell my trailer BEFORE I'd make him sell his bike. I don't think I could live with myself if he had to give up what he loved most and I still kept my expensive hobby (AKA 'way of life') just because I wouldn't sell a trailer. Deep sigh... Guess I am just nervous of parting with my trailer incase the new business goes belly-up and I'm left with nothing. Jeeze, now I just sound selfish. :(

I'll have a look on the FreeAds and AdTrader websites in our area. Good idea, thanks.

ETS:
Just looking on the Freeads site and ones similar to mine are £2300 - £2700.
