How much do you pay for a set of bog standard shoes?

It's been so long since I had a full set done I can't remember. Obviously it varies but an average price would be great. Currently pony has shoes on front and trimmed behind which is £45. With no trims he's £36. Have moved yard and doing alot more road work now hence why I need a full set.

Thanks

Depends where you are. Round here (Devon) they seem to be anywhere between £60 and £80 per set. I don't have shoes on mine, my farrier charges £60 for a set and £20 for a trim.

Used to pay £35 for a front set (£70 for full)

Then i took the bloody things off - best thing i ever did.

Now i pay £10 for a trim (just fronts - backs self trim as a rule) every 10 weeks :D

I'm not a barefoot preacher (yet!) But do you really need backs on?
My mare has never had back shoes on and i was doing lots of roadwork every day after she was backed without an issue - i'm assuming yours has given you a reason to?

even locally it depends on the farrier!
My current farrier charges £55 a set + extra for road nails (think it's £1 a nail) and either £10 or £15 for a trim depending on how much trimming is needed, mine isn't shod .. . my ex-farrier charges £78 + £1 a nail for road nails and £25 for a trim regardless of how much needs doing - that's why he's my EX-farrier!.

Thank you.

I tried the whole barefoot thing. Not my cup of tea. He was very footy in front even ages after we made the transition. He was never 100% happy in boots either. I left his backs off as we weren't doing much roadwork but now the backs are wearing down very quick.

I'm in central Scotland .

£60 for a full set
£40 for fronts and trim behind
£20 for a trim

My tb mare is barefoot right now, but honestly I think I might have to put her fronts back on too. She's turned away so not expected to work but it's been a few months now and she's not always happy about it (stony gateways upset her)

Worcestershire - Bog standard using factory shoes £75.00, fronts and trim hinds £40, trim only £25.00.

Specialist set for my show hunter, hand made with heel extensions £82.00.

A good farrier is priceless in my opinion. Used mine for £30.00 years, always on time, never let me down and if I found one of my horses tonight at 9pm on the final check, with an urgent foot problem I could contact him and if needed he would come out - and it has happened over the 30 years.

I hope he never retires.

I was paying £85 for a full set plus £20 for the diesel to get her to the forge every six weeks. Just pulled the lot last week so far so good :)

Lincolnshire- £65 for a full set, 20 for barefoot trim, £45 for shoes on front with trim on back. Livery yard use a different farrier and he charges around £80 for full set.

Our farrier is very very good and he does all the race yards around us too, he charges
£20 per trim
£30 for fronts and trim behind
£60 for full set
don't know about road nails or studs, we're in lincolnshire.
