Last Saturday I stopped by the local farm supply store and happened to see the price for a 100 pound bale of alfalfa. $43 USD! Holy cow, how does anyone afford this stuff? Do you all even feed alfalfa? It is a local crop around here and if it costs that for local alfalfa I can't imagine what it costs if you have to transport it. Round bales are about 2/3 the cost.

We don't tend to get large bales of alfalfa here, there are small wrapped bales I've seen but I'm not sure what the price would be, there are a lot of alfalfa chaffs/nuts available though.

Well in the Uk alfalfa isn’t fed as a hay, at one point one commercial small bale supplier did do a 20kg alfalfa bale but I don’t know anyone that fed it or if it’s even still available.

We feed grass hay/haylage in Uk.

Alfalfa is fed by lots of people as a short chop or pellet as part of a bucket feed. Brand dependant it’s £12-15 for a sack
