Just rang my shavings supplier and surprise surprise they have gone up again. But he says he has plenty and is having no problems getting more. Call me sceptical but why does the price keep rising if there is plenty available? They are thoroughbred shavings and are now £6.90 per bale. Do you think that is a fair price? He says he has not added on the VAT increase. So i suppose they could soon pass the £7.00 mark.

Blimey that's cheap!

Just brought Hunters last week, and they were £7.99.The merchant also told me that he can't get them at the minute, and the only ones he can get that are dust extracted, cost £8.99!

I also use a mix of straw and shavings with eucalyptus in and that is £6.50 a bag!

we only pay £4.50/bale for white, dust extracted shavings (very similar to snowflake, i cant tell the difference & if anything the bales are even heavier!). we did have to order 100 in an order, but luckily have the space to store them! the more we order the lower the price gets

our shavings are 8 pounds a bag and we cant get hold of hunters at the minute we have really dusty ones

Hunters round here are £8.65. I have been using Megasorb with them though, and am impressed with it so am going to change over to that by just adding Megasorb and the odd bail of shavings.

£7.40 which has went up from £6.90. I said about them going up and the girl said they always put them up Dec/Jan time but expect them to be down to £6.90 in a month or so

Blimey - I'm paying £6.25 and hate the thought of that. I use High Park (Mansfield) - they sell them direct from the factory at about £3.50 per bale, but you have to buy 100. If I'd got my arse in gear earlier I'd have bought a load instead of having to get them from my local feed merchant.

Shavings are up to £12.50 a bale around here at the moment! We have moved onto the wood pellets supplied by White Horse Bedding and it works well on our rubber mats.

I sell shavings for £6 a bag - they are top quality dust extracted, made by the same people that make shavings or Dodson and Horrell, just in a different bag! They are similar to Bedmax as they have large flake, but they also have lots of smaller absorbant flake too.

apologies not everyone is greedy... but £12.50 £7.50 for bedmax that is taking the mickey & drives people away from buying from decent people/shops
