My farrier recently told me that he was putting the price for my shoeing to £78 from £75 due to the VAT increase. I was just wondering what others pay for their shoeing, mine is hot shoeing done on my DIY yard.
I remember 7 years ago when a full set of hot shoeing was £50, those where the days!

That is a lot to pay but with fuel prices increasing do they have a long drive to get to you. I do a lot of driving with work and it is very noticeable how much fuel is. 5 years ago to fill my car was about £32 now its £50 +

Yea I'm in s yorks too & pay £55 for a full set hot shod. It's not gone up for years either!! I might be wrong but I think things are dearer further south (?) xx

Mine going up from £60 to £65. Unshod £20 a trim. My mate up the road pays £50 to a barefoot woman!!

just changed farrier to one who comes highly recommended at £50 a set!!!! I was over the moon as have been paying £65 a set before pony went off on loan for a year. I am hoping to go shoeless and have just had his back shoes taken off so paid £30 :) Hopefully if he is happy and sound I'll be able to have them all off :)

I used to pay £66 + VAT for a set of shoes which equates to £79.20 now.

Mine have been barefoot since December last year and my farrier does their trims at £27.60 including VAT.

He hasn't put his prices up for two years so no doubt they'll be going up again but to be honest he's worth every penny!

I pay 60 for a full set and 40 for front shoes and a trim on the back, so 100 every 6 weeks - however, even if my farrier put his prices up I'd stay with him, he's brilliant! :)

I pay £65 for a full set (hot shod) and £67 with road nails. East Devon. It's about the 'going rate' around here.

My old farrier used to charge me £101 for a full set!!! No road nails, stud holes or anything. Unbelievable. Before I moved house my old farrier charged £76 for a full set so yes it is a bit ridiculous!

I too remember the days when it was £40 a set!!

I remember 8 years ago paying £40 a set and £5 a trim.
My prices are up from £60 a set and £25 a trim to £70 a set and £30 a trim due to the tax increase and also it is a fair journey for the farrier to get to us.
The shoes are every 6 weeks and the trim is every 12 weeks.

Well I pay £62 for fronts (one is a heart-bar shoe) and trim on the backs, he's been an absolute star of a farrier with Connie and got her through the laminitis (concussive with rotation - thought she was going to have to be pts) basically on his own (although vets have been very good, I put it down to my farrier being so professional!)

Well in the past 2 years i have gone from paying £55 to a recent increase in price to £70 a set, a trim is £20, used to be £15. Only one has a set, the other 2 have trims and hoping my cob can go barefoot.

I pay £45 for a full set here in NI - that includes 2 stud holes in each shoe if I need them.

Cold shoeing though which is the norm here :)

Mines £70 and that pretty average round here, the other "special" one is £140 but thats for bar shoes and gel and has gone up by £20 - something to do with cost of gel!
