Hey, i always thought you loaned your horse out for free, but you can charge?
For a 16hh TB gelding, 9yo, what price does anyone think I could ask for him? would it be on a weekly / monthly price?

Do you mean leasing?

Depends hugely on his competition record - might be possible if he would be considered a schoolmaster ie good at his job and able to show a more novice rider the ropes. Or if he is still a strong competition prospect and would do well for an accomplished rider.

As there are so many horses out there, I suspect you would only be able to charge for him if he fitted either of the two roles.

The only horses which are normally 'leased' are broodmares with proven offspring, fab bloodlines etc. or competition horses which have competed to high level and will bring someone through the levels as a schoolmaster/mistress, or again a competition horse of competing age with exceptional talent.

Loaning means the loaner pays for everything ( you don't have anything to pay, nor do you get paid)
Sharing usually means you get some money towards costs.
Leasing needs to be for an extra special horse, as said above

What are you doing with your horse?
