I'm pricing up yards for livery around my area and i honestly cannot believe the difference in some of the prices and the yards are merely miles apart from each other!!

1st yard - DIY £25 per week
2nd yard - DIY £40 per week
3rd yard - DIY £55 per week!! (And this is only for horses up to 15hh... Prices go up from 15hh upwards!)

4th yard - FULL livery - £55 per week.

The 3rd yard is charging the same for DIY livery as a yard charges for Full !!
To add insult to injury the yard charging £55 per week for DIY has crap facilities to be blunt. It has 1 tiny indoor arena, virtually no turnout during the winter and little or no off-road hacking! Plus, anyone who is having lessons etc gets full priority of the arena...So if you want to ride at the same time, your basically stuffed!
Whereas the other yard with the same price, offering full livery has 3 indoor arenas, 1 outdoor arena, super hacking and excellent facilities in general !!

These yards are all less than 10 miles apart from one another!

I just can't believe a yard with virtually little or no facilities and little or no decent hacking could have the cheek of charging £55 a week DIY !

I think most DIY is around £40 and £55 is very cheap for full livery but i wouldnt pay pay £55 for DIY with bad facilities. I pay £40 DIY, the yard has good size indoor school, outdoor school, fields arent great in the winter but I'm allowed to turn out early in the indoor school before the lessons come when she cant go out, the is also a riding woods to hack out but you do have to pay for the key as it is owned by woodland trust but you dont have to go on roads to get to it, it is just a lane away from the yard.

well, I'm moving my horses to a new yard in 2 weeks that is £20 p/w per horse DIY, obviously I supply bedding and feed, has a 30m x 60m school, 24/7 turnout all year round if you want and free lorry/trailer parking + excellent hacking and the place is in first class condition...I think that's a really good deal. Oh and did I mention (good) hay at £1.00 per bale if I want it!
