I did post in breeding but no response. Further to my previous thread I have decided to sell my yearling.
I just wondered if the market is good at the moment and things are selling. Now I have made the decision I want to sell him but all I see on Facebook groups are much cheaper animals. I paid £2,500 and obviously gelding etc since.
I know none of us make money on horses but I want to try and do this fairly quickly. This isn’t an advert but I was not sure where to start. I can’t find anything similar on sites.
To make 17h warmblood cross sports horse. Sire won a lot in showing and sibling have. Fantastci movement and lovely nature hasn’t ever been anywhere though . Would £3k get much interest?

I doubt it. Not necessarily because the horse isn’t worth it, but because yearlings/2yos generally don’t sell very well at all unless seriously well bred.

There are hundreds of warmblood/sport horses out there - I could probably pick up a run of the mill one for 1/1.5K if I put my mind to it. Sad admittedly, but true.

I agree with IHW - I think 3k is overestimating his current value, sorry.

I think 1.8 is more realistic, providing his conformation is spot on.

That’s what I wanted to know I don’t want to waste weeks advertising too high. The breeding is good but it’s not amazing. I also struggle with viewings with young kids so want it done and dusted painlessly as possible.

From your description I think £3k sounds a bit much. You don't mention the dam at all, so I presume that she was nothing special in terms of breeding or performance? There are lots of youngsters out there with nice sires, but ones with good breeding/performance on both sides of the pedigree are more rare and more likely to command higher prices. If you want to maximise what you get for him, you need to get some really good photos of him and if he has fantastic movement then get that on video.

The mare has some reasonable bloodlines but hasn’t done anything amazing. I will definitely do videos I have tonnes of pics he’s so easy to do and lovely to deal with. Thanks for the tips much appreciated.

If he's a smart type and you want to get a bit more money and he's a nice type send him somewhere like Langaller to get him produced a bit and out showing. They have good conacts so you might then sell off the back of results. But if he's an ordinary sort then 1.5k should sell him
