Primitive Proposal - anyone out there got a youngster by him?

My daughter's TB mare has just been scanned in foal to Primitive Proposal (she has an 7 year old daughter by his sire, Primitive Rising). Does anyone out there know anything about his offspring and what they've been doing (and hopefully doing successfully!)? I'd love to hear from you!
 
There was a colt by Primitive Proposal at last year's Sport Horse GB Show, it was very nice and very bold and looked like it was going to make a lovely big long-legged horse, if I remember rightly its dam was by Fleetwater oppostition?
 
All the primitive horses that I have seen tend to be nice quality horse that are usually dark bay with very little markings!
If you type his name into google there is quite a few little things on him.
 
the foals i have seen by him have had little presences, they are all bay and im more of a chesnut person. ive heard Welds really nice. maybe next time!
 
mares from scotland go down to Weld, many mares travel to Ireland to go to stud. so keeperscottage need to get their facts right. plus Langaller is an amazing stud.
 
I've only seen one by him and I have to admit it was disapointing. I notice that he himself only evented up to pre novice level. Rumour has it that he then went show jumping which didn't prove wasn't too successful and is now doing dressage. I think both he and Primitive Star ( who is also doing dressage) get mares because of the reputation of Primitive Rising.
 
Yes, Thistle, there is a MAJOR mother/daughter tiff going on here! Memo.....this was not the post I was hoping for - no disrespect, I hasten to add!!!! And scaremcclare......you're the daughter I'm having a major tiff with so please keep out of this argument! When I first read your post, I thought it was from the stallion man at Langaller - honestly! Good bit of PR work there for Langaller - commission please! Have to admit that Langaller was AMAZING! (By the way, scaremcclare, let's be friends again....please......And I'm sure you'll love the foal even if it isn't the chestnut filly you dream of!)
 
Sorry, but as I say I've only seen one foal by him and the mare wasn't great. You get good and bad by all stallions so don't worry too much I'm sure yours will be Ok.

Is he actually graded?
 
i do like you memo!!!! yeah da foals do lake any X-factor! hes not graded.....wat a surprise. but Weld is. Grading is quality control, but keeperscottage is just stupid. and the tiff is NOT goin to end. shes my mare and she sends her somewhere c**p, shes not gona have to ride da offspring i bloody well will.( just to add she rode my new boy twice and now shes ruined him,he naps, she let him get away with murder in two rides,)
 
Agree with the above and also the stallion of your choice is renowned for not throwing the best of temperaments so perphaps it wasnt a bad choice by your mother.
 
hmm difficult one. I know Primitive Proposal very well, have ridden him, had him based on the yard etc and there is a lot to like about him. His eventing results don't show him in fair light really as due to his stud duties he had a very inconsistent run up to all events and it was hard to get the ground work in. Also say like the last Great Witch result - not great but watching him he actually jumped very well and if you'd seen him jump - yes not a show jumper but not a bad technique at all. Had he had 2 seasons of proper work I think he would have a much better record.

I would agree when i first saw him he isn't one that caught my eye or did anything to make me say wow but he has actually produced some nice offspring. He himself has teh most fabulous temperament, plenty of presence, and dressage judges love him and his paces.

We have a 2yo filly by him out of a Krisinsky mare and she is absolutely stunning, lots of presence, quite sharp but shows great movement etc so far.

Last season there were 3 or 4 PP babies who did very very well showing - won everything there was to get all the nothern county shows youngstock classes/bramham potential eventer classes and they were serious quality youngsters. Not sure if they've come out this season.

I wouldnt' be too disappointed. You might have got reams of other superstars by him out there or him with a fabulous record but he is a nice horse and will produce you something that you will be able to do stuff with even if you well it and get another one. There's no reason why they won't be good - the bloodlines are all tehre he's just a bit more of a risk than a real proven stallion!!

As for primitive star - he's another lovely one, had him on the yard too, have a scar on my boob from him (d'oh!!) but again, don't write him off!
 
Well you sound like a pleasant person. I'm sure when you are fully funding everything you will be able to make the final descision about where your mare goes to stud. In the meantime try not to sound like a spoiled brat.
I hope you get a lovely baby foal.
 
I don't know anything about this stallion - but have to admit am fascinated by this thread - don't often witness a major domestic row on here!

As my mother used to say to me and my sisters: 'Now, now girls - fight nicely!'

one of my clients has just got a 3yr old filly by him, her mother is ridden by my clients OH. The dam, IMO should not really have been bred from as she has awful hind limb conformation and Stringhalt in her off hind. The product , the filly is smashing! Lovely attitude, good limbs , nice movement.She also has a little bit of the X factor, and I'm not a filly fan , so i would say on this limited evidence he has stamped this filly well. The dam by the way is a lrish sport horse and is a complete arse so he certainly did something good there!
 
I collected our lovely mare from the stud this afternoon (or, since it's now 3am - I was watching "Psycho" on the TV - I should say yesterday afternoon!) and my daughter (who seems to have changed her user name to "drumstick" from "scaremcclare") and I have decided to call a truce! Don't know how long it's going to last, but, in my defence....I did not ruin her new horse!!! Thank you for your posts of support in this "domestic"!

Sorry to go a bit off-topic but it's nice to see someone who takes account of the quality of the mares before judging a stallion's progeny - so many people seem to forget that a mare was involved, and blame any faults they see on the stallion alone! Mind you, stallions also probably get a lot of credit they don't entirely deserve either, if they've been lucky enough to get v good mares!

Our mare is 100% sound, super, former point -to-point multiple winner. whose foal (by Primitive Rising - hence my choice of Primitive Proposal) is the East Anglian Point-to-Point mare 2007. She is loved, adored, worshipped.......what more can I say.....she's an amazing mare...we hope to hunt her next season (lightly, in view of her "condition") and, yes, I want our baby to have all the traits of her dam....and a bit of her sire's!!! Only the good bits, that is!!

Have known a delt with 2 mares by Primative Risng...although they are doing ok on the race track, they were blooming nasty things, took any oppourtunity to kick or bite you.Has certainly put me off them

Very interesting, Tinker! Can you tell me more? Our mare's foal by Primitive Rising (which we don't own - a friend does, though) is a lovely little mare (little being the problem for my tall daughter since she's only 15.3hh and my daughter's worried Primitive Proposal's offspring will be small too!) is the current East Anglian Champion Point to Point Mare and is super! Because Primitive Rising is no longer "with us", we've sent our mare to his son, Primitive Prioposal......interested to hear about his offspring you've come into contact with since, like I said, our mare's daughter by him is smashing!
 
I notice there was a lovely winning 3yr old in H&H last week by him and two this week, one in the results and one for sale.
