Does anyone feed primrose oil to help their dogs coat? One of mine casts so badly and someone suggested it as it can help lessen it. I know nothing will ever stop it (wishful thinking) but if it would lessen it that would be a help :D

Dog in question is a yellow lab so all you have to do is look at her and hair flies out lol! She gets brushed on a regular basis too.

What about using a stripping knife on her to card or comb the coat...this will get a lot of dead hair and undercoat out of her.you will be amazed at the difference it will make.
As for the oil...I've used omega 3 and 6 in pet perles to help the dogs immune system, skin and coat.

I'm not a big fan of washing dogs on a regular basis (unless of course they've rolled in something obnoxious) However, I did find with my old Bulldog that a good scrub in the bath (warm/hot water) would loosen up the hair and then when dry a good groom would get a lot of dead coat out. I'm guessing the warm/hot water would open the pores and dilate blood vessels (as opposed to cold) so helped with the shedding of his coat.

We use to add a splash of vegetable/olive oil to the dog's food or mix in a tin of oily fish every now and then which helped with the skin and coat.
