Happy Friday darlings!

Hope you are all well - Prince and I had the best day today. We went rambling in some wild meadows near the yard (trying to keep him moving so he gets used to being barefoot) and it was the best experience!

When I first bought Prince 12 months ago (many of you know the rollercoaster story) Winters suggested that I read books by Mark Rashid. These books challenge the popular view that a leader in the “horse-human” relationship have to be based on utter dominance and dictatorship. They also focus on herd dynamics and how “the dominant” doesn’t necessarily have to gain respect with force or aggression.

So! Having read these books (thank you Winters!) I took P through a maze of fields today - with no other horse in sight. I gave him time to graze in each field and I was interested to see if - IF I moved, would he move??? Thus replicating a herd dynamic where he trusted me and wanted to stay with me to keep safe. And by Zeus’ sword! He did!!! It was quite amazing!!!
Just as this chap, Mark Rashid, had predicted!
I will post videos in a bit, but here are some pics from today - literally the happiest day - pretty much perfect to be honest.
Hope you guys are all well. Thanks for putting up with my soppy posts ☺️☺️

I’ll embarrass myself by saying this but… I grew up in the 80’s and watched “the black stallion” “pharlap” and “national velvet” more times than I can possibly recall” - Pharlap being my ultimate favourite. I knew every muscle on that horses body, every emotive scene of the film..

I watched it again today and had the incredible privilege of being able to finish the film and walk straight to Prince (he lives 30 seconds away)

I know I am rambling but my main point is this - good grief! I finally FINALLY achieved my dream of owning a horse. And what a horse he is!!
