Prince William to wed Kate

Good for them . . . but has there been a change in the constitution? The heir to the throne was never allowed to marry a commoner hence poor Prince Charles not being allowed to marry Camilla all those years ago so they both had to go off and marry other people . . . .

That's not right actually, as far as I read it when Charles and Camilla first met their relationship fizzled out as he was in the navy and was called away on overseas. She then married Andrew Parker-Bowles. Not going into the rest of the tale but basically there is nothing in the constitution that was a barrier to their marriage. Only person the heir to the throne can't marry is a catholic by constitution, although in fact the idea of anyone with a 'past' is not on!

I think its fab news! They looked really relaxed together in the interview on the one show :D
It's about time we had a Royal Wedding:D

That is me not watching any TV news or reading any newspapers for the next 2 years then (wedding in 2011, jubilee and Olympics in 2012). I do like the Royal family, but have no interest in the blanket repetitive coverage that these events will receive.

I am thinking of the coffee mugs, t-shirts and other cr a p which will be produced and have a strong desire to vomit already...

What are you smoking ?

I think it's lovely news.
It's good that they haven't been rushed into it, and Kate seems quite confident in the way she deals with the press. Her body language is totally different to Diana's when she was in that situation.

I must admit - I wondered about the 'commoner' thing as well. She's going to be Queen one day isn't she :D I would have thought that her 'past' has had time to be in the past - they've been together for 8 years???

Cant say i am enamoured at Kate wearing Dianas engagement ring, it should in my mind have been altered- so is it a case of hanging onto Dianas memory through Kate or William showing his pride?
