hes had two lots of anti biotics so far and will have his 3rd 2nite and hes had it bathed everyday with salt water and hes been having green oil gel on it, im still waiting for my vetalintex hydrogel to arrive!! he had it bandaged but vet originally said bandage it over night but i did it in the day to keep flys off the cuts, he had it off for the night last night, it was taken off at around 7pm last night and came down this morning and its huge :( i would have expected abit of swelling but not as bad as that! im worried hes got an infection or something! hes having it bandaged 24/7 now, i text vet and he said to cold hose it and masage it before and after walking him inhand, graces swelling has gone down slightly which im pleased about! looks like prince wont be having nerve blocks this week either :(
its not the clearest pic but you can see his fetlock and the fact there is no change in shape, its just swollen all the way up!

I agree with your vet. Hosing and walking will help a lot. Try to play the hose over the whole leg for 20 mins if you can. I should imagine it's looking much worse because the bandage has been off.

I would pretty much expect that reaction tbh.

Salt water bathing is great, wouldn't bother with the green oils tbh, don't think they really have much place in a first aid kit anymore. If you have nothing else, Savlon is gentle enough :)
 
i think im more worried as the cuts that have caused it are very old. there is 3 cuts, 1 of them only about 6 months old and the other 2 years old :O the 2yr old one healed but scarred but it always left a scappy lump, never bothered him and they seem to have re opened with alot of blood aswell. i though he caught them on the bushes but they are to precise, i would have expected to see more cuts so god knows how they have re opened. going down now to hose him and walk them both and get eaten by horse flies along the way!
