Hi all,

Not sure if this exists but I am looking for a good private riding instructor in Essex near Brentwood / Romford areas with a horse that I can ride (I don’t have my own & don’t have the time to commit to loaning at the moment) on a weekly basis (Saturday / Sunday) – any recommendations?
Not a riding school please. Prefer lively / spirited horses to plods, somewhere with a bit of freedom and someone who can improve my dressage & jumping.
I have ridden for most of my life but not regularly / properly in the last 2 years since part loaning but would like to keep up riding whilst I can't commit lots of my time :(

Thanks.

Without going to a riding school this is pretty limited, I know Simone Ward in Upminster and Louise Perry in Brentwood area do lessons on schoolmasters, otherwise Contessa/Hallingbury Hall/Quendon are the nearest venues with very good schoolmasters. I would personally find a good riding school as some have some terrific horses to learn on

The problem is that cost to insure for lessons on own horses is prohibitive. I looked into it a while ago for my schoolmaster and decided it wasn't worth the liability risk and associated insurance costs. HOWEVER you may fine someone willing to lend to a horse for a lesson with a good instructor as it sounds as though you are competent rider! I know a few owners - not in your area sadly - who would be happy with such an arrangements. I have also given regular lessons to clients on horses they have "borrowed" on a casual basis.
