Do you guys add Brewer's Yeast to this or is it already included? Or Yea Sac or however it's spelled.

I know the hoof one has it but I can only say that Mr. Equilibrium Ireland is happier with the Pro Balance. I really don't want to argue!

TIA
Terri

No it doesn't contain a yeast (which is one of the reasons it's cheaper than the Pro Hoof :)).

I buy Yea-sacc from the vendor and give it to the old boy only. You use less of the Yea-sacc than Brewer's Yeast, plus it's a live yeast.

None of my horses will eat the pro hoof. Especially my cushings/lami mare who needs it most. Is the pro balance more palatable?

I don't know but it seems these balancers aren't palatable for lots of horses. Mine weren't keen on the Forage Plus ones I get at first. I just persisted and didn't relent/give anything else. One needed it increasing slowly and they woof them down now. In fact a couple of weeks ago I ran out but still gave the speedibeet with salt and linseed and they weren't keen. lol

I haven't tried the Pro Hoof.

Obi eats the Pro Balance + happily in Fast Fibre and Speedibeet.

The Tank (who would rather eat a haynet than a bucket feed) will eat it in a handful of Fast Fibre and a smattering of Spiller's High Fibre cubes.

The Tank also has some herbs thrown in - but Obi won't eat any herbs since September started .

Good to know guys so I will get some yea sacc as well.

As far as eating bland stuff or stuff other horses have issues with, mine got over that a long time ago. LOL! You can't be that hungry if you're going on strike! They love anything with the linseed mixed in.

Thanks guys!
Terri

After a thread on here where someone queried some mineral levels and a friend who wanted an all round supplement and didn't want to mess around with individual as I do; I did a spreadsheet comparing all forageplus balancers and the two progressive earth ones.

There are some very interesting deviations in levels of magnesium, zinc and copper fed at the recommended dose.

Progressive earth use wheat feed and calcium carbonate as a filler while FP goes for soya hulls so not sure if one is more palatable. I've heard of alot of people having problems with both though so suspect it's as tigertail says the lack of sugary things masking the taste. I'm very lucky that I have two waste disposal unit on legs who hoover up whatever I put it front of them.

Pro balance has Biotin added, I used Brewers Yeast as it also contains that but with the pro balance yeasacc will do just as well.

I have to ask. Is it available please? Bit of a cheek I know. My brain cant cope with this sort of stuff and I keep dilly dallying about switching but always stay with FP in the end. :D
I have just ordered their new hoof balancer so we'll see.

Sure - think I'll have to email though as I don't think there's a way of attaching docs.

Not sure it will help though as it just shows clearly that they are different formulations and you are never comparing like with like.

My fussy horse eats pro hoof and equi mins meta balancer (not at same time). Switched as meta balancer cheaper. Have found it add powder to speedibeet and linseed dry and soak altogether he eats it.
