Pro Hoof or Biotin

Don't know but have read that biotin only works in conjunction with other vits/minerals - I'm thinking copper but not sure! - no doubt someone will know!

I certainly wouldn't give Biotin and Pro Hoof together as Pro Hoof contains biotin so just doubling up.

I've had my boy on Formula 4 Feet for ages and his feet recently got worse so looked at all the ingredients for all the other supplements and have opted for Pro Hoof. Comes highly recommended on this forum. Trouble is they all take 9 months + to see the results so the jury is out I'm afraid.

I'd just drop the biotin and give pro hoof instead. Mine have been on pro balance for nearly a year and their feet are really improving, they did start to look worse before they looked better while the old hoof grew out and chipped away. Only one of mine is not really showing improvement so she is going onto pro hoof.

I've just invested in a bag of forage + on the advice of some friends who have seen excellent results all round including a huge improvement in hoof quality.

I've previously used horse first biotin with good results.

Alltech Life Force. I wouldnt try anything else.... Apart from the benefits of overall condition (and a reduced feed bill), it is fantastic for feet! I started mine on it for issues I was having to get weight on him (an issue that had the vets stumped) Within the month he had turned round. :)

However, as his system started to stabilise I noticed that his feet were REALLY starting to grow. Not a bad thing given how ill he'd been. He has been on it just over 6 months now and was trimmed a few weeks ago. The farrier commented on how great he was looking and what lovely feet he had. :) :)

A friend of mine was having trouble with her TB and his feet. Had him on vitamins and Pro Feet for over a year and was concerned that he still wasn't holding his shoes, feet weren't growing and his skin was really poor. I suggested LF based on the results I had seen with my guys. His feet are starting to grow nicely now. Hopefully by the end of winter he'll have a nice set of feet on him. :)

You'll probably reduce your feed bill too. :)

Do you know the ingredients/spec for it CF? other than five cutting-edge ingredients which is all it seems to say on the website

Not top of my head hun. I'll have to go and get a tub out of the feed room. I think it also comes down to the blend - ie how much etc. I know that with the hell I went through with Topper, supplements, herbs, feeds (HUGE vets bill) I was enormously skeptical that "another supplement" was going to make any difference...

But the results are undeniable. I am useless at putting up pictures on here, but am more than happy to email pics. :)

I will go and dig one out and put it up later if thats ok??

Pro hoof from progressive earth and micronised linseed has made a massive difference to mine. Takes a while to see the benefits but given the horse is now sound and looks fab I won't be changing it. The farrier says he has thick soles and a good rate of growth and is now fully barefoot.

I would be interested too as Ive tried to search for ingredients/spec but no mention at all on internet.

A bit of googling suggests the "5 cutting edge active ingredients" ;) in Lifeforce may include
"Our live yeast culture Yea-Sacc®1026, received full EU authorization as a feed additive for horses and has been shown to optimize fiber digestion and nutrient utilization. Alltech’s organic trace mineral range of Bioplex® copper, manganese, iron and zinc helps improve hoof health and strength, as well as coat condition. Sel-Plex® organic selenium was reviewed and approved by the FDA and EU for horses and has been shown to help boost fertility and antioxidant status."

If so, doesn't say how much copper, zinc, manganese or uh-oh! iron are included in each scoop, and adding selenium makes it 6 active ingredients by my count :p

ProHoof (not the same as NAF ProFeet) has a full breakdown of ingredients:
1000iu of vitamin e (as alpha tocopherol acetate)
20mg of folic acid
0.6mg of B12
100mg of Pyridoxine(B6)
20mg biotin
1mg of selenium (Organic selenium S.cerevisiae)
175mg of copper (chelate of amino acids Hydrate)
525mg of zinc (chelate of amino acids Hydrate)
3000mg of methionine
10256mg of Lysine
15000mg of Glutamine
1000mg Yeasacc TS S. cerevisiae (equivalent to 10g yeasacc 1026)
6000mg of magnesium (new improved formula now has 6g of magnesium - previously 4g)
57g per 75ml scoop.

And no iron ;)
So no point giving Biotin *and* ProHoof, since ProHoof has biotin included.

Pro Hoof from Progressive Earth every time.

You know exactly what you are getting in this formula - and believe me - it works!

I had to take my TB barefoot for a while and my goodness did this (and Micronised Linseed) make the world of difference.

Prohoof is amazing stuff! My cob who has good feet now has even better feet from feeding it. I recommend it to everyone. I even posted pics of my lad on their FB page the other day clearly showing the better tighter hoof he was growing :)
