I may well be being dense here. But as I work it out, Pro Hoof from Progressive Earth works out more expensive to feed than the Pro Hoof Platinum (which in my understanding is a more concentrated/advanced formula of the Pro Hoof). Should it logically be the other way around, or am I misunderstanding ingredients etc and Pro Hoof is actually the superior supplement?

Is there an offer on? As when I bought both (only fed hard feed in winter so it's been a while since I bought any) Pro Hoof was definitely cheaper?

Based on the recommended intakes for a horse and using the Pro Hoof 1.8kg and Platinum 2.61kg prices, it works out at £1.15/day vs £1.11/day, respectively. BUT there's postage to pay on the Platinum.

Ignoring the recommended intakes and looking at % ingredients, the Platinum seems more concentrated though. So I'm not sure why they recommend feeding a higher quantity of it than they do the pro hoof?

You need to compare the recommended intakes though - using copper as an example, the recommended intake of Pro Hoof (58g/day) provides 175mg copper and the recommended intake of Platinum (87g/day) provides 333mg.

58g of Platinum would only provide 220mg copper.

Thats what I mean though - feeding the same amount (58g) of platinum, would still provide more than than feeding the same amount of the standard (220mg copper vs 175mg). So I don't understand why they recommend feeding more? i.e. say you were feeding pro-hoof and were happy with what it contains- given the cost/concentration, would it not work out more economical to feed platinum at the same amount as you are feeding pro-hoof (ignoring the recommended intake), as it would still 'contain more' in 58g than the pro-hoof standard?

Platinum only has increased levels of mag, copper, zinc, methionine and vit B6 vs Pro Hoof. If you fed it at the same rate as Pro Hoof you'd be providing less lysine, vit E, etc, than Pro Hoof.
