No Gloria, I think DEFRA advice is that hunting "should be understood in its ordinary English meaning". Even an imbecile would know this would rule out scaring away deer with a dog.

But Defra say that flushing out and chasing away deer is hunting as defined by the Act do you accept this?

You see I think what Giles is saying is that only a moron would make what he does illegal.

It sounds very much to me like you agree with him.

Do you think that it would be stupid to make it illegal for someone to go out with four dogs, search for deer and when he finds them chase them for as far as he can?

That's what Giles does and i think you accept that it shouldn't be illegal.

Am I right?

And you're the one "making" it illegal, when it clearly isn't. If the cap fits..... LOL!!!

lol Reginald so Giles chasing deer isn't illegal?

Where did you get that from when Defra insist it is?

It sounds to me like this law is a bit of a mess. You are clear that chasing deer with dogs isn't illegal and defra think it is.

Which is it?

The length of the pursuit defines if it is hunting or not. If you pursue something for 5 f*cking hours, it's hunting. If you are merely scaring something off, you only need to pursue for a few minutes at most.

Are you so thick you need it spelling out to you?

Blimey! A 5 hour hunt. Now I'm jealous, where abouts do you hunt andwith whom. as if thats the norm I'm definitely coming hunting with you.

We only manage 30-40 mins max

The law makes it completely clear that flushing out wild mammals is hunting. The length of the chase or even if there is a chase is immaterial.

Flushed out deer have to be shot in order to prevent the possibility of them being persistently flushed out. This is the decision of parliament and it is our duty to obey the law.

For a deer to have been flushed out it has to be put in fear of it's life. The decent and honourable thing to do at this juncture is to shoot it dead.

... so flushing a fox to guns or a bird of prey is illegal?

So how was Tony Wright acquitted?

No no you silly man. It is illegal to flush a fox if it isn't to guns or a bird of prey. If you have a gun or bird of prey to kill it then it's legal.

Wright had guns stationed to kill the fox, Bradshaw lets the deer escape without being killed. That's why he is a criminal.

There is an important distinction.
