Are these the ones with the padding integral to the numnah? I like the look of those, obviously more cushioning and perhaps offer a slightly larger surface are for pressure?
i have a pro lite pad,, is fantastic use it for jumping, as added protection< sits beautifully between saddle and numnah never moves, even been xc a few times in it and no matter what my horse did it never moved! had it for years and washed it loads of times and it is still as good (shape wise and pads) as when i first bought it!!
My saddler, who is very well respected around these parts.... only recommends prolite. she says they are perfect for added, even comfort between saddle and horse, especially thin skinned TB types, that do not carry much weight. I have also heard this type of response from another saddler.
I use one every day on my TB gelding, who is inclined to be cold backed. He has his saddle checked regularly, his back checked regularly and is kept fit and well and in regular work, and since using the prolite, we have few probs with him. Before we used the prolite, he was very inclined to get a sore back.
I bought a prolite off ebay the other day - following recommendations from here. But having never seen one in the flesh before, was suprised at how 'hard' it felt.
As with Bubblegum's horse, Thumper is prone to a sore back - and has his saddle checked regularly, and receives physio.
Anyway used it last night, and the lad seemed happy enough. So will see how it goes.
