Best advice on how to preven snow build up in feet!! heard about baby oil and salt but any other suggestions (not engine oil either!!). the cheaper the better!!! boy has egg bar shoes on so really gets jammed in!

haha yes annie was doing the same! 2 tips I found, drie feet off before applying, and try and use vaseline that isnt hard or frozen. I find it still builds up a little bit but no where near as much and drops out soon after
 
Ha ha! I tried wd40 yesterday and my lad came in with the worst stilts so far this winter - i had to soak one hoof in warm water as couldn't even pick it out....!
 
In countries with cold winters farriers offer attaching a rubber "snow grip" strip between the hoof and the shoe, which reduces snow build-up.

Basically dry snow is easier, since it is the wet snow that most easily attaches to itself and other things. So the snow will be stickier in the middle of the day, in sunshine etc. than at night if the temperature drops.
