In adverts for rugs it usually says '600(or other numbers) denier'. What is this?
And what does 'ripstop' mean?
Also, how much fill would be in a lightweight, medium and heavyweight turnout or stable rug?

Denier is how tough the outer material is.. as in how easily the horse will shred it!

Personally I would lcass a lightweight rug as below 200g, medium as 200 - 300g and heavy weight as anything over 300g but I am sure loads will disagree with me!

i think denier stands for density therefore the higher the better
Ripstop means if your horse catches it on a fence it will only tear as far as the next stitch.
Lightweight i would say 100g
medium 200g
heavy 300-400g

I think!
