I have been looking at spurs, mainly because b can be a lazy toad, but overreacts a little to the whip, so for dressage, particularly horse trials tests I want to start using spurs, now although my leg can be flappy, I am capable of keeping it still and have used borrowed pow spurs, b doesn't react hugely to these, although I am not sure if it's because i am concious thy are there and being very gentle.
The one I hae been looking at are the sprenger ball end spurs http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=330271321930
Am I right in thinking that a ball end will be 'kinder' and less likely to rub/hurt him if I make a mistake, also I was all set to go for 20mm shanks, thinking that small is kindests, but I have read an article on classical riding, which stated that the shank is better to be a little longer so that you can feel it when you use it. So now I don't know whether to go for the 30mm ones.
Any thoughts or recommendations? (I don't fancy the impulse ones with the plastic balls)
