Scoot Boots are great
Just to those struggling with mud straps on Scoot boots (@paddy555 and anyone struggling). Get a little pot of fairy liquid. Dip the looped ends of the mud straps in fairy liquid and they slide easily through the mud strap keeper, and there’s usually enough fairy liquid to enable the front straps on the boots to slide through to. Way easier than trying to out your horses hoof through the strap hole (I found that impossible) and as for messing about with laces …. Life is too short. Fairy liquid or even a dab of mud barrier will completely solve this issue!!I cut the slider on the strap so it was shorter and the hoof fit through. I tried it like the video once but never again. A longer strap might have done but I didn't want to have to buy any.
I prefer it to boots as well but I haven't used it much over the winter Arabi got quite sore from soft soggy hooves, so I kept him in and applied some hoof armour and his been so much better.I Do swear by Hoof Armour now. Been using it a couple of years and I rarely need boots now. It's been a bit hard to get the hooves dry enough to apply it recently but I haven't ridden as much so it's been okay. Some dry hooves and I'll get another layer on
It does protect them well from the wet. I try and put it on straight after a trim but this winter have missed sometimes due to the amount of rain and not being able to get dry enough feet. Did him last time though even though feet could have been dryer, hopefully we'll get a dry spell soon and I'll do him again and we'll be raring to goI prefer it to boots as well but I haven't used it much over the winter Arabi got quite sore from soft soggy hooves, so I kept him in and applied some hoof armour and his been so much better.
