Pup is killing us by wanting to go out every morning at 3am! We let her out about 10.30pm, she goes for pee and a poo then. She then asks to go out at 3 am and then again at 5am. She is crated when we are not about.
She gets 4 feeds a day, 1 around 5.30 am. 1 at 12, lunch time, 1 at 4-4.30, and last one between 7 and 8pm. Would changing her evening feed help? We have probably got to ride it out but any suggestions welcome!! At least she asks to go out so we are thrilled about that!

I was taking Daisy out at 2.00am and 6.30 am for several weeks. We were able to drop the 2.00am toilet at about 4 months.

There is light then! I don't remember letting my terrier out that much! I would let her out as late as I could, she would then sleep through until 5.30am. Hoping it won't be too much longer with this one!
 
Mine (same age as yours) gets fed 6am, noon and 4 pm. She goes to bed soon after 9 (cage). I get up at 6 and wake her up to go out. I’ve never had one that needs taking out in the night, although I do always hear if one does need to (upset tum say).

I should add that Daisy never asked to go out in the wee hours of the morning, I just did it to ensure a dry night.

But I’ve never had to deal with a wet bed either, and you admit yourself she didn’t ask to go.
With all due respect I’ve probably had more puppies in my life than you, and that is not meant nastily at all.
My priority is sleeping through (and being clean while doing it) so I train accordingly. You obviously are happy to get up for a very long time. Most people (and I assume OP isn’t, as she asked) prefer to sleep. 😊

Fair comment.

Never cracked the 6.00am wake up call.. I made a rod for my own back there 😂
 
I'm not sure it would make any difference at all, but I noticed that your feeding schedule is a bit uneven time wise. 1st feed at 5:30 - 6½hours - 2nd at 12 - 4 to 4½ hours - 3rd at 16 to 16:30 - 2½ to 4 hours - 4th between 19 to 20 o'clock.

It probably is like Amymay Again said, it's just a matter of her needing a bit more time before she's able to sleep the whole night without going to the toilet, but if you want to try anything, I would try to make the time between the feedings more even. Maybe even give the last feed a bit later, and see if that makes any difference.
 
Last feed too late and last toilet too early IMO.

And I actually take my dogs for a 'walk' and keep them moving before their last toilet. Some let out into the garden with no purpose will not concentrate and just bimble about rather than empty.

Awww It wont last much longer about 4 months ish.

Id give anything to be back to those days, I get up at 2.30 every morning with my wee elderly princess for a pee n a poop. Counting my bless Every single day 🥰
 
Could you do 3 feeds instead of 4 and do the last one around 5ish?

What time is she being let out for last toilet before bed? Do you go out with her to make sure she actually goes?

Mine is 2 so can’t remember exactly how long he was doing night wakes but I think it was only about 3-4 weeks so you are nearly through it!

She is 11 weeks, is 3 feeds OK? Torn on that one! Wasn't sure if she was waking up because she was hungry so we made last feed late as poss.
She does 3-4 poos a day and we generally know when she will go. She goes on very short ' walks' for a sniff but she prefers going to the toilet in the garden.
Last toilet before bed is as late as we can make it. OH took her out from midnight til 1am in the hope she would sleep til 6 🙈🙈
 
It’s getting light at 3am, so perhaps try blacking out the windows/covering the crate. I say this because for the last few weeks mine has bounced out of bed at 3:30am and asked for a walk no matter the bedtime. Apparently if the birds are up, then so should we. We’ve negotiated a 4:30 am truce 😂 I should also mention he’s 15 and has always been an early bird but I feel your pain 😁
 
I have never got up with puppies before the last- I've had 6 from small puppies. The first 5 slept through the 6th was a nightmare. If I didn't get up there would be sh*t and pee everywhere, The times I was hosing off his crate in the middle of the night in the garden and washing walls down was ridiculous. So yes, I set my alarm and tried to avoid that. Sometimes it worked sometimes he beat me too it.

I'm not sure what age that stopped but he's just turned 2 and I know for certain that I could put him to bed at 10 and probably (I don't!) leave him til 9 ish?
I think some do need to go when they are little. None of mine ask to go out even now, they don't do anything in the house but neither do they ask.

In general I would think it's a little early to go down to 3 feeds per day, but if it works better for her, then it's not wrong. Some wants to feed the last feed earlier than what you do, but I've had puppies were I fed the last feed a bit later than what you do, and tried to have about 5 hours between the 4 meals, and it worked just fine. With other puppies I've e.g. fed at about 8 - 12 - 16 - 20, and that also worked.
Try something a few days, if it doesn't work, try something else, or go back to what you used to do.

By the way, even though some puppies at her age don't care, and happily goes to the toilet out on walks, it's not unusual that puppies prefers to go to the toilet on their own territory = garden, rather than doing it on other unknown adult dogs territories. Sometimes it's not about territories, without they're simply so busy with everything new, that they forget that they need to go to the toilet until they come home to their less distracting own garden/area.

It’s much easier if they poo in the garden, long term. Saves a lot of poo bags on walks. 🤣
 
Dogs are normally polyphasic sleepers, which means they sleep in shorter snatches. It can take some puppies a while to adjust to our way of resting.

Where is the puppy at night ? Downstairs or with you in your bedroom ? Feeling safe can have a big influence on them waking as well.

She is in a crate in the room, with 2 other dogs, free range, a d OH who has been sleeping downstairs! I think she feels safe in her crate as she goes straight in, settles straight away and can often be found sleeping stretched out upside down!
 
Ours sometimes asks to go out in the middle of the night but when she's out in the garden she doesn't 'perform', instead she mooches and sniffs round the gate on the scent trail of a fox. It's a PITA but partner normally deals with her. She's 12 though!
