Can anyone recommend a good probiotic (horse) that doesn't contain yeast.....All the normal ones do, but unfortunately he comes out in hives !

There used to be a couple, but I haven't found one recently....I have used psyllium husk and bentonite clay but wondered if there is anything better out there?

Thanks.

Sadly that contains two versions of yeast (Sacharomyces)

OP you might be better looking for pre biotic, pro biotic will generally contain live yeast cultures
He already has a reasonable selection of prebiotics in his diet, but sadly the main one I used to used changed their formulation several months ago, and he reacted badly to the new version.

Inulin or gum Arabic, human versions from amazon are fine. Google for the research and doses, it's usually 5-10g.

They're really prebiotics, but often in horse versions billed as probiotics.

You didn't say what the problem is but if you've tried psyllium I'm guessing FWS?

Theres a massive thread on here. Oily herbs were popular. Mine didn't get FWS last autumn for the first time and that was the first year on oily herbs.

I also found the protexin quick fix syringes worked really well whilst you used it but didn't solve the issue. They are bacteria and gum Arabic I think.

Thank you for your thoughts.

No, it's not FWS.... he has a longterm issue with a leaky gut which is exacerbated by yeast and simple sugars, which then leads to him having an allergic reaction to all sorts of feedstuffs and coming up in very dramatic and longlived hives....

He is on oily herbs and betaglucans which normally keep things fairly stable, but recently had a course of Equioxx which has left him with poorly formed droppings....thankfully this is gradually improving, but I was just wondering if there was anything out there I hadn't come across...there used to be some bacterial prebiotics a few years ago, but they seem to have disappeared!

He used to do well on the equibiome prebiotic (their other supplements didn't do much ...including an inulin one), but they changed their formulation, and he reacted to it!
I think all the protexin products are yeast based.

Interesting...thank you, I will investigate!
It would be worthwhile looking at Protexin Gut Sponge. It contains the ingredients that you have mentioned.
Sadly all protexin products have yeast in them, so cannot use.
Hasn't there been some research on banana as beneficial for the gut. There are supplements based on this if you Google
Interesting...will google some more!
