Hi guys,

The ex racer im riding currently has loose poos and has had a couple of small bouts of gassy colic (if i can even call it that!). Once he walks round and 'trumps' he is fine.

I am wondering what i should put him on to help settle his stomach, he was scoped when purchased about 6months ago and no ulcers. I think it is more a case of him gorging on the grass as it comes through in spurts with the heavy downpours we have! He is out 24/7 at mo with no hard feed. Thinking of some chaff to give him some dry feed to help bulk his poo out a bit!!

Any reccomendations?

Thanks

I had a horse prone to colic, esp. flatulant colic....I fed both probiotics and mint which helped. The vet suggested the probiotics and I just fed the mint to stop him gassing up. With probiotics there are loads on the market but some products don't actually contain much probiotic. This is what I settled for:

Best of luck!

Biotal equine gold. A tub lasts 4-6 weeks on 2 scoops a day.

I swear by it, my mare has been almost 100% solid since putting her on that and year round speedi-beet (3/4 of a cup pre soaked size- shared between breakfast and tea) to help keep her stomach acid regulated, ie to lessen the sugar spikes..

She's been amazing, as prior to that she was filthy on her back end from loose droppings, poo "juice" and lot and lots of wind and tummy aches...

pj (my 6yo tb) suffers from a very delicate tummy, pink powders have perked him up a treat (and also increased his condition/ shine etc)

i double dosed for the first tub 1.4kg then went down to the recommended dose.
