Problem selling a horse! THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH IT!!!

Agree the photos are dreadful, would put me off straight away.

However, I know nothing about BSJA, but its seems as people are saying she is too big for juniors/too small for adults etc, how about changing the add to take out reference to BSJA winnings/teenagers dream etc and trying to market her as a small adults RC type/hack. You say she is good to hack etc, so would be ideal for the housewife type who justs wants a nice easy horse to do a bit of everything on? I would be inclined to put more emphasis on what a nice person she is, how good a hack she is etc etc.

The words BSJA/teenagers will put the RC housewife type/happy hacker/non BSJA jumping type off IMHO as they tend to make me think that the horse is a whizzy jumping machine! (I know wrongly, but that's the way us non jumping types think!!!

From viewing the advert I can see several things that could be better. The photos are very poor. The one eating hay shows nothing. The lunging one is of little use as the sun has blotted out alot of the detail & the one over the stable door is a nice little snap but no good from a selling perspective.

The advert says he can jump so you need a good one of him jumping a reasonable height. One showing his conformation would be good also.

The advert could do with re-writing, there is little or no punctuation & appears as a mass of text which a prospective buyer would find off putting. It is a little garbled aswell, it needs re thinking.

Finally the horse is advertised as 14h3....not a good height for jumping pony as at 14h3 he's a horse. Get his shoes off, get the farrier to trim his feet & get a vet along to measure him & try & get him down to 14h2 with a certificate.

If you get all that done you may well get more interest & sell the ltle lad. I'm not trying to be nasty, just trying to help you out....honest

Agree the photos are poor, also the advert is very badly written, poor spelling etc. What people want to know is the basics - size, type, age, traffic/hacking, loading, handling height/classes jumped. I also agree reason for sale might be useful. I would try your local tack shops, also phone the local PC's they may put her in their newletter or try the PCUK website. I think that PC competitions are based on age of rider more than size of horse, so tyhat might help her with her extra inch. Is her height already on her passport? If not you may be able to measure herwithout shoes on and loose an inch

i would put it as a 14.2. when you get them measured they do it with no shoes on so it might come in under. if you have over £100 bsja winnings they make you have it measured so what does its passport say its height is. if it has an irish passport they meaure with the shoes on. its a few years since i did junior bsja but i don't think ponies do discovery only horses. i had a 14h pony that came over with irish points that converted to money.i had no response when i tried to sell him as bsja pony so i advertised him as a pony club pony and sold him to first person. it cost about £11 pm on pony club website.
 
It's the photos. Like the others have said above, get a good one of her standing up nicely for conformation, and one of her jumping (with a rider on top). Is she really 14.3, or could she measure in as a "full up" 14.2? The advert could also be better phrased...

The pony club website might also be a good place to advertise her.
 
The pony will probably measure in at 148. If they do it now when she is unfit she'll be smaller anyway.

She has also won too much money for discovery - that is $175. Say in the ad that she has won $221 in seniors but is eligible for juniors just that they didn't have a rider at the time or something.

I have looked your friends horse up on the BSJA website, it's registered as a pony, so if it has won $221 it should already have a LHC at 147.2 cm.

I think they need to buy her record of the BSJA and see exaclty what she has done.

Agree, TERRIBLE pictures! If its being sold as a showjumper, you want to SEE it jumping! People will want to know what height / class she's jumped up to as well and what potential she has (ie. jumps whatever height at home etc.)
