Im supose to be boxing Arch over to my friends Mums place tomorrow to go for a ride with her and her Mum.
Trouble is, Ive had confidence problems on Arch after having a really bad fall on him about a year ago. My confidence is sky high at the mo and we're doing really well.
So, heres the problem Im faced with........I not sure if I should go because they like fast rides and Arch will get upset riding in a group (well, 3) and if they go charging off theres a big chance he will get very upset and have a bucking fit!
Thing is, my friends mum is the owner of an esate agencey firm who is a possible sponsor!!!! So by not going, Im worried this will ruin my chances of getting them as a sponsor!

What should I do? pleeeeease help me

Go and dont expect anything bad to happen. If he bucks just go with it and pull his head up. Most horses get excited when cantering in a group anyways.

I understand how you feel, after I had a nasty fall on Louis a couple of yrs ago doing XC I really started having confidence issue going XC. However, I made myself do it as I didn't want it to become an issue. The first time I went out after the accident I lunged Louis in the morning and also gave him a big dose of calmers (Equine America So-Kalm paste) and stayed positive and he was absolutely fine. On his toes as he usually is but very well behaved and I have no issues now going out.

Just go and relax and don't assume something bad will happen. Just remember if the worse came to worse and you panic just voice your feelings to the other people you are with and i'm sure they'll take a break or slow the pace. When i go out with Lou I always ask to be in front for gallops etc and everyone is fine with that.

Go and enjoy

If it was me I would take my bottle of rescue remedy to keep me calm and give a little or alternative calmer to your horse. Pyschologically it will give you some confidence.
Confidence is such a fragile thing, but sometimes the best way to restore it is to push yourself beyond comfort zone and discover that it wasn't so bad after all.

Best of luck and enjoy - the ground is spot on x

If they are going to go for a gallop, explain to the before hand that he gets extremely upset being at the back during fast work and ask to be at the front if they go for a canter. Most people will understand and be fine with it.

Dont expect anything to happen and go with it if it does. you can do this youve done it before and you can do it again!!

Don't wish this reply to come out quite as rude as it'll probably sound (esp. as i don't know the whole story).
But if you're worried about being bucked off, and going for a ride with 3 others with the chance of a gallop across a field.. do you think you're really up to seeking sponsorship?

yea same thing crossed my mind mdm.
maybe you should just go and explain that he has to be in front for fast work and just do things gradually. start at trot and just keep a contact and strong leg don't move up a gear till you're happy.

Galloping across a fields with a group after having the fall I had is very very different to show jumping! Which is what Im seeking sponsorship for.
