Problem with clipper blade sharpening?!

Has anyone else had problems with online companies offering blade sharpening? I've sent three sets back twice to UK Clippers and both times they have all come back blunt. They are refusing to admit that there is a problem with their service, and have had the cheek to suggest that I should send them back for a third time so that they can try again!

Can anyone recommend a company who are reasonably priced and reliable?

Cheers

Clippersharp - super service, very quick, reasonably priced. My blades always go there, and my clippers will go for a service next year.

I had a similar problem this year, but wasnt sure if the blades were not being sharpened properly, or if it was time for a new set - the comapany sent me two brand new sets of blades free of charge - what a result!
That was Peasridge - I have found them very helpful both when buying my clippers and in the after service.

I received a blunter pair of blades back then what I sent off when I used UK Clippers. They said that they had never had that problem before! I finally managed to get them to sharpen them again FOC but haven't tried them since I got them back, After your comment I am thinking they are going to be blunt still!

Have you had your clippers serviced lately? I sent a set of blades for sharpening and they came back blunt, or so I thought, but when I put my spare set of blades on they were also struggling to cut unless I had the tension so tight the motor was overheating. My Dad serviced the clippers for me and they were absolutely chokka with hair and other cr*p. I'm sure you're right and it is a problem with the blades, but do bear in mind that clippers work very hard in really yuk conditions and need regular maintenance.

Hi

Thanks for your comments, however, the clippers are still working beautifully with the new set of blades i had to buy whilst the others are out of action!! I believe they were serviced just before i had them, but will certainly have a closer look at them and make sure they're hunky dory!

Cheers

Most firms are pretty good in my 15 years experience with the trade. The odd cowboy comes and goes, but they are usually people who don't sell clippers or blades and just see sharpening as a "fast buck". Even as a manufacturer with all our experience, we occasionally get the odd set that wont cut for some reason. Anyone who tells you they never get the odd faulty set is not to be believed. Although three sets at a time is rare!!?? What type of blades are they, as some can be a pain to sharpen, especially some of the cheap and crappy Chinese blades fitted to the "E Bay Bargain clippers!" I presume you have tried another set that work ok to discount a problem with the clipper? and you are using proper clipper oil etc. Bit of a mystery then, have not heard any bad sharpening reports of late from anyone new to the trade, but feel free to PM me if you get stuck, advice is always free, even if you are not using the brand of machine my company produces.

Hi there

Thanks for the advice! The blades are Heinenger originals, so should be ok, and the new set I had to buy are working fine, so fairly confident it's not the clippers (or operator error!)

Just frustrating to have them returned twice and both times more blunt than when they went!!

I've had a couple of recommendations so will try again and keep fingers crossed! Thanks
